Well, this was is very interesting, to say the least.

[We see the jungle and hear someone running. The view is low to the ground. We hear panting. It’s Vincent. He passes open suitcases and sniffs them. He hears a whistle. We see legs. It’s Christian. Vincent runs up to him. Christian talks to Vincent.]

Christian: Hey there. Come on. Come on. Come on. Good boy. Come on. Come here. Come here. Good boy. Yes. [He leans down and pets him.] I need you to go find my son. He’s over there in that bamboo forest, unconscious. I need you to go wake him up. Ok. Go on.

[Vincent whines and runs off.]

Christian: He has work to do.

[We see Jack’s eye open just like the beginning of the pilot. Jack wakes up slowly, looks around, sees Vincent come through the jungle. Vincent whines, runs by him, and runs off. LOST black screen.]

I can honestly say this is the first time I'm intrigued by a Christian appearance.

Woah. That's the most interesting one yet - unless this is supposed to be stuff that Jack's hearing or imagining (and how could he imagine Vincent before even seeing him?), that suggests that the 'visions', ghosts or whatever they are can act and in some sense exist independently of a real person's seeing or hearing them.

Note the 'he has work to do' is very similar to what vision-Walt said to Locke in the pit.

Finally, a mobisode with real wow-factor. So - is Christian still alive? A figment of Vincent's imagination? Jacob with better clothes? Or are they in purgatory....? <Exits, screaming...>

It's interesting to note, that this pretty much explains that shoe at the start of the episode... as you can see, Christian was nearby, and he was wearing those same shoes.
Perhaps, in some way, the island used the shoe as a medium in order for Christian to take form, at least for a little while.

Alternatively, smokey could have used the shoe as a medium, who knows.

It certainly presents the possibility that Christian is still alive - could also explain his voice over the intercom whilst Jack was in the Hydra cell.

Although I suspect the outcome will be that Vincent can communicate with dead people - it's often said that dogs operate at the different level to humans, thus enabling them to communicate with 'spirits'.

The islands dead are a known factor in Lost - be it via dreams or visions, they are very much alive, so to speak. The island itself appears to 'heighten' peoples senses - perhaps on par with those of dogs? This could help explain why people have the visions of dead people from their past - along with the subconscious guilt aspect and magic box factors.

I think this Mobisode confirms that the islands dead - Emily, Boone, Christian, Yemi (perhaps Jacob) etc are 'living' on the otherside of the curtain. Does this relate to what Ben said about "every living thing on this island will die" - what will happen to those living-dead..those rebirthed via the island and a heightened subconscious?

The only problem I see is that Christian never met Vincent - yet Vincent was able to see him. This is a deviation from other 'island deads' being seen by their loved ones (Eko-Yemi, Ben-Emily, Jack-Christian, Charlie-Mother Charlie). Although being a dog, perhaps his senses are so finely tuned that his subconscious can see 'all' dead people on the island, regardless of whether or not he personaly had a connection to them whilst they were alive.

Also wonders what 'work' Jack has to do. It's brilliantly similar to Boone's message to Locke in 3.03. Also wonders why Christian didn't reveal himself to Jack at this point - why send spirit-dog? Perhaps Jack wasn't 'ready', as Ben would say? Well, he soon would be...

Also, this kinda counts as a Vincent centric, thus reducing the chance of spirit dog having his own Lost episode.

What work?! Jack had plenty of work to do, especially in the pilot.
He saved Rose, he helped Claire, etc.

I think Christian may have left his shoe in the tree to guide Jack in the direction of the beach, where he was needed.

Not really wiz... we don't know how far Vincent had to go to get to Jack. And besides, if he was a ghost/spirit thing, then he could just poof himself there.

Or he can do like Nikki and just throw the shoe into the tree.
