It is not confirmed that he died. The only proof that we have that he died is that Desmond said so, and he was frantic at that time. Also when the tailies, Michael, Jin and Sawyer are walking to the beach camp, they pass a place that looked like the place where Kelvin was presumably killed -- but there was no body. If this was the same place, the Others might have taken the body.

That did cross my mind. I was thinking that when Sayid, Sun and Jin were on their way back they would find the body - would make a nice little twist kind of, to have Sayid find him - But we never got to see their journey back.

I kind of like the idea that he's still alive, Desmond was in a rush to get back so he didn't really check for any life signs. But then again, you would have thought he would have either gone for the boat or gone back to the hatch. Desmond obvaisly found the boat so Kelvin couldn't really have moved it.

Yeah a great character like Kelvin will definitely show up again. He ain't dead and you just know it...

Good point Zola and I think we've all come to learn that you should never believe a word anyone says unless you see it for yourself with your own eyes. Wouldn't be surprised if he turned up on the island some time in the future.

I still think that 'Patchy' may actually be Kelvin - considering how his body was absent.

lol, patchy is the guy that locke ect saw on the screen when they were in the observation hatch, he had an eye patch on :P

i'm not so sure that it was kelvin because like lostie said would he not go back to the hatch or something, unless the others found him and he's somewhere like jack but with the computers...

Well I don't think it looked like him and I never made the connection before. I do think he's alive though and probably working with the others somewhere to be revealed a lot later on.

I dunno, that bang to the head seemed pretty severe to me. I think the others most likely took his body though but I'm extremely doubtful over whether he's alive.

its not patchy, they are different actors! Nah im afraid inman or whoever he is is dead, we may see more of him in flashbacks though...

I'm fairly confident he's dead. As mentioned above, he did take a really bad hit on the head, and the blood definitely isn't a good sign.

On the other hand, I seem to remember seeing those rocks before LTDA. I think they appeared in one of the Tailie episodes. In that episode, they certainly didn't see a body or a boat, but then again, it's easily possible that it was further on - I believe they cut in early as it became too steep, though the distinctive rocks continued round the Island.

In saying that Kelvin is such an important character..if only for the duality that he provides..he connects the mythology of the island and the 'real world'. Infact he brings together many of the key strands important to this show: He was in the US Military and we know that there is a military link involved in the island (on some level)..he was also part of Dharma and that explains itself..he is linked to both Sayid, Kates dad pre-island and he knew about the hostiles (Others?), the sickness, the hatches and he knew Raddy. Not many characters have as many connections as him.

So basically what im saying is that i wouldnt be suprised if he is still alive or if we see him again in some shape............or form.

I seem to remember Desmond saying he 'buried him' (though I could be wrong) when we first met him (Desmond) during the beginning of season 2 - but during the end of season 2 (Desmond’s on-island flashback) we didn't see this. Perhaps it was a figure of speech, as in 'he didn't bury him, but he killed him'

Who knows, would be cool to see him again though - cool character.

Hmm, he might have said that - will need to rewatch that episode

Yeah, if he did it was probably a figure of speech or a lack of continuity, in that the creators didnt seam together his previous statement once they reached the 2x23 flashback episode?..because there was quite a gap between those episodes.

What they need to do is hire some of the lost fans as were so observant that we would ensure that continuity is always on top form
