Widmore

Now I don't know if this has already been noted but, upon watching The Whole Truth again last night (I needed to get to sleep) something caught my attention. The pregnancy test that Sun got from Sawyer was a "Widmore Pregnancy Test". Now as we all know the main guys in LTDA was Charles Widmore and his daughter Penny. So we now have another strong link that would suggest the Widmores are truly associated with goings on on our island. This raises the questions how much do the Widmores actually influence our island? How strong is their involvement? Are they linked with Dharma?

Yep good spot and the logo on Henry Gales balloon was Widmore and Widmore construction was on the side of a building in F&W. There must be some sort of link.

When did we find out that Mike specifically worked for Widmore Construction?

I noticed the other references and yes it would seem that Widmore has strong links to the island.

It could also be argued that he intended for Des to get stranded on the island and that the real Henry Gale was one of his employees and that 'New Dharma'(?) (aka Others) killed him because they saw him as a threat from one of their rivals. All specualtion of course, but it's an interesting topic with many possibilities.

ANother interesting point is that according to Desmonds pamphlet, CHarles Widmore is a Philanthropist.

The first part sounds very much inkeeping with Dharma's original ethos and outlook...so in someways it could be argued that Charles is an affiliate of theirs..however it could also be argued that he's on the side of Hanso Foundation..or 100 other possibilities.

It will also be interesting to see just how closely aligned Penny is with her fathers actions/company. I mean, was she working alone (without her father)in her pursuit of Desmond?

Im pretty sure that was never mentioned We know he used to be a (struggling) artist but worked in construction to pay the bills..but dont think it was ever stated that he worked for 'Widmore'..

It's too much of a coincedence that Des entered a race founded by a man who wants to get rid of him, then while competing in that race gets stranded on an island which said man had strong links to, and of course in lost nothing's coincedence.

Although what im about to say contridicts the above i thought it needed to be said

Anyway i think there is a link but maybe it is actually a coincidence?? because Eko's line was strongly emphasised so it must mean something... but i am a faith man and i love the idea of lost being Faith not science though sometimes i get the fealing science is were it is heading

EDIT - What i mean is i would like to see it on the faith/fate side, not science for eg the blacksmoke is energy off the magnet, its actually a freaky deeky thing that the island created for a reason thats what i hope

I think Eko's line was alluding to him believing that it was fate (design) rather than coicidence..

But I actually think that we could have a situation where it is both. I mean, in real life fate and coincidence seem to exist or co-exist in parallel (together) so why not on the island? Whoever has brought them to the island (HF? Dharma? Widmore? ..etc) can only control so much..there is (surely) only so much control that an entity can have on events and so perhaps some of the thing that we have seen are indeed coicidence, whilst other things are driven by design/manipulation/fate?

Though in saying that i still believe that the plane was 'crashed' on purpose and not by chance

i hope fate brought them there, or the island lol (starting to sound like locke ) i dont like the idea of HG/dharma or any other crazy organization bringing them there because again it takes away the whole faith/fate theme

Hurley's flashback yes.

It collapse under his weight and some peeps died. It's the reason he ended up in the nuthouse.

I would have a guess and say that Locke was on that scaffolding.

I guess scaffolding structures for things like group photos and audience seats etc are built by construction companies.

Mike could have helped built it, and Hurley caused it to collapse.

Wait, Hurley's collapsing thing was a boat i'm sure of it so i don't see how Widmore could be connected to that.
