UK Lost Scheduling Issues Raises it's Ugly Head Again

With the news that Sky One are going to be airing Lost 10 days after it resumes on ABC (24th April), it has raised yet more issues surrounding the pace we should operate at.

If it had not been for Sky delaying UK transmission this wouldn't be an issue, because a 3 day delay is much more acceptable than a 10 day delay.

Anyway, i'm sure many of you have an opinion on this, so I thought that you could air them in this thread if you want to. Currently I'm undecided on what to do as I wasn't expecting Sky to fiddle with the Lost schedule So feel free to leave your opinions between now and Thursday (the day Lost returns to ABC).

Keep it at UK pace. I watch it on the Internet but won't be watching it until the day it airs in th UK out of principle

I'll be watching it from Thursday (because I'm impatient) But it'll only be fair to keep it at UK pace or else loads of people won't be able to discuss it, and non-Sky viewers can watch it as many times as they like really But we'll all have to be on major spoiler watch

But I'd say stay at UK pace - not that it really concerns be, but it seems the right thing to do IMO.

Going by previous threads and polling, I'm pretty sure that the majority of people on here don't follow at Sky One pace, so in terms of keeping up activity and quality of discussion, I think it would suggest a compromise, and have an American pace forum, like there was for E4, which allows people to post on episodes 2 days after they've been aired in America so people can get a chance to watch it, alongside the main one at UK pace. The posts from the US/LC pace forum could be moved into the main one once the appropriate episode's been aired in the UK.

I don't mind going at Sky One pace when it's 3 days behind, but 10 days is pushing it. Sky One's scheduling is regrettable, as we're either stuck with excluding a significant portion of the forum, or allowing everyone to be involved, but with the majority probably on the lacklustre side, since to them it would be an old episode.

Yeah, that's the thing - doesn't almost everyone here either watch on ABC or via other means before the Sunday?

Like, how many regulars actually watch on Sunday's...2..3..4 max?

Am at USA pace like many, any chance of a password protected forum for USA viewers, but you would have to ensure that the thread titles don't show up in the mini feed at the bottom - as obviously they are spoilers

Being the old dog from Channel 4 SF land (and yes I still remember those days well) I say that we keep to UK pace. I mean, we coped with being a whole year behind the US back then so I dont think that 18 days should make a lot of difference, especially since this is a far superior forum and is better run and better at dealing with spoilers . I even fought off the idea of a E4 forum if I remember rightly. I was slack the last time because it was only a couple of days (and even that put off many from contributing) but 18 days in advance has made me change my mind. Like JB, I view UK pace on principle and Im sure theres more than just 3 or 4 of us.

My argument has now is the same as it was then: To open up a seperate forum would ruin the atmosphere of this that made it special. There would be a signifcant drop off in non spoiler section partcipation since many would simply say "see thread entitled 'Boones back from the dead!' in spoiler forum" and the feel of the discussion would die because of that division and repeated threads etc (NB Boone isnt really back from the dead, I just made that up).

However, if there was someway to do what Him is suggesting, or even better, have a passworded forum then that would be a good compromise, but even that would ruin the special sprit of this place.

I will wait and see the outcome of this and will accept any descion you make Roco but if it not to my satisfaction then I might have to put my forum super villian plans into operation
