Default How does one become VIP?

People often ask me how does one become a VIP here at the LC?

Well, first let me give some clarification on what my interpretation of VIP is.

An LC VIP is my (or shall I say the LC's) way of thanking members for their contribution to the progress of the LC. This contribution are made up of several core elements:

1. Commitment to the LC's cause - That is that a member has displayed a 'long-term' commitment to posting here at the LC. Long-term is usually at least several months.

2. Helping out with Forum projects - From time to time we have projects that we run..sometimes staff might need help with this and so we put it 'out there' for folks to volunteer. This is greatly appreciated and I keep a track of who want to help out with our various projects as it shows that that member is keen to see the LC develop and grow.

3. Being generally helpful - this includes welcoming and helping newcommers feel their way around the site and basically not causing staff any problems

4. Quality posting over a period of time - This is something which i really appreciate and try to reward. Quality posting consists of contributing to forum discussion in a positive manner, offering useful insights and opinions, not derailing where possible, not spamming etc. This does not mean that you have to be the cleverest person in the world or that you have to be 'great' at expressing your opinion in words - just let the passion for Lost flow..it's about the content of your Lost expression that counts..not your writing skills (although if you have that too, then rock on)

5. Get Creative - Creativity, whether it is in the form of fanart/fanfic or Lost videos, is also appreciated here. Contributing your creative works to the LC is greatly appreciated as Lost is afterall a creative show.

Now of course not all 5 boxes need to be ticked, but generally those who perform strongly in any at least 2 of the 5 areas normally receive VIP status (or above).

Now, being a VIP doesnt mean that you're valued above those who are not VIP - it's simply the LC's way of rewarding those who consistently meet the 5 aspects above. Every single member here is valued..hence why the legend marker has been changed from member (which is quite generic) to Survivor (gives it that Lost touch).

Furthermore ANYONE can be a VIP..anyone. The best advice is to just treat others how you'd like to be treated and to be helpful where you can. And most of all, be patient..oh and discuss LOST.

Becoming VIP (or above) should come secondary to the experience of interacting with fellow lost fans in a vibrant and informative environment.

Now those of you who dont care about becoming VIP then this isnt for you - i thought id just offer some clarification as i know that this is one area which has caused some bafflement over time. Hopwfully now this will make it clearer.

The above also applies to groups after VIP..it's all relative..the more that is contributed the more likey one is to become VIPlus..etc..

The LC isnt about segregation..it's about offering appreciation to those who are committed to help us be the best that we can be..and i repeat..anyone can become VIP etc.

Any questions on any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact a member of staff

*PS..VIPs are still in the process of being reinstated since the board transfer. If yu were VIP before then the chances are that you will, overtime have your VIP reinstated.
