Here commenceth the third part, if I don't complete it, you have permission to shoot me
![]() Chapter 1 4th July 2013 The snow crunched beneath Kiowa’s feet as she walked slowly through the forest. The hooded cloak she wore concealed her face as well as her emotions which were a combination of sadness and placidity. Her eyes were cold and her mouth neither frowned nor smiled as she carefully climbed over a fallen branch that lay across her path. Wherever this place was, it was incredibly beautiful; the snow covering everything like a giant white blanket. Just as Kiowa was admiring the tranquillity of the forest, she heard something ahead of her. She looked into the whiteness and at first saw nothing, prompting her to wonder whether she was hearing things, or worse that someone, or something might be stalking her from behind the trees; watching her, examining her. But just as these thoughts started to create fear in Kiowa’s heart, a dark figure emerged from nowhere right in front of her, about thirty feet away. The sunlight which had been shining down through the canopies immediately faded away. Night seemed to arrive hours ahead of schedule as gloom and darkness ensued over the forest. Kiowa stared at the figure as it advanced slowly, keeping its head down to avoid being identified. “Show yourself!” ordered Ki impatiently. The figure did so, stepping forward into the one remaining spot of light. It was dressed very mysteriously, with a cape tied around its neck and long brown boots covering its legs, themselves mostly hidden by the snow which coated them. Kiowa could hear the pounding of her heart inside her body, so loud it sounded like it was about to burst out. The unidentified being lifted its head slowly from beneath the sinister hat it wore. Kiowa’s eyes widened in anticipation. The face revealed itself finally. Ki examined it curiously, at first not recognising its distinct features. But then it dawned on her. Her facial expression changed from one of confusion to one of shock and pure horror as she identified the Box Man. Her face turned white and she gulped to try and prevent herself from being sick. She was unsteady on her feet on this terrain after receiving such a nasty surprise. The Box Man, on the other hand, had rooted himself into the snow, calm and steady. The two of them faced off against each other for a few silent moments, except for the crunching of the snow beneath Kiowa’s nervous feet. She gazed into his eyes, he glared into hers. He seemed darker somehow; the shade of his clothing and the strange black rings encircling his eyes, the pathways to his soul in which twinkled the happenings of the past. Those black eyes; they seemed dead and yet powerful, weak and yet strong, dull and yet sparkling. “You made a mistake Kiowa,” spoke the Box Man at last. Ki stared agitatedly at him, standing now only about twenty feet from herself. “What do you mean?” she asked, with a tremor in her voice. “You weren’t supposed to leave!” cried the Box Man, suddenly showing his emotions, a great deal of grief in his voice. Kiowa frowned, not understanding how he could say this. “There was no choice!” she protested, her voice now strong and unwavering, “Life there was over for us all!” “Then how is it that life there still remains?” said the Box Man hauntingly. Kiowa’s heart skipped a beat at this and her face dropped. “How can that be?” she gasped. “There were some who stayed,” replied the Box Man, “And now they need you.” “Need us for what?” asked Ki concernedly. “Their survival,” answered the Box Man bluntly. “Terrible things have been happening since you left.” Kiowa could not say anything; instead she began to walk towards the Box Man slowly, in an awestruck trance. “We can’t get back,” she murmured. “You’ll find a way.” “I can’t do this alone.” “All must return.” Kiowa reached out to touch the Box Man’s shoulder, her eyes glazed over; but just as her fingers were about to come into contact with the rough material of his clothing, he vanished into thin air as quickly as he had appeared. Her eyes flashed back into focus and a shudder ran through her entire body. Immediately the sun returned and lit up the whole forest. The snow glinted once again in the light of day. Everything reverted back to the way it was before the meeting, as if it had all been a terrible dream. Spooked and confused, Kiowa turned and ran.

As always Wizzie, your writing is perfect, and we've been dropped right into the story, and the whole "You have to go back!" thing which is...well, very exciting. Loving it ![]()

Great start Wiz! Your writing is as good as always, and it makes sense to start off your thrid part with the best ever character (no not the Box Man) from the first two
![]() But if we all have to go back, lets just hope some people don't return as a ghost or something and we bump into them...I'm having nightmares already of meeting Nelson again, lol.
