I was watching MOSMOF again last week, and with the benefit of what we saw in LTDA I saw something which made me think I was in danger of being clever.
Think back to Jack meeting Des in the stadium. Des told Jack about his training for a round the world race, Jack told Des he was a doctor, that he'd made a promise he couldn't keep, Des sussed that he was talking about a woman, etc etc. Jack was all upset explaining how he "tried to fix her" but he failed. Then Des said something like "so it would be a miracle if she recovered then?" And Jack nodded. Des game him a strange look, almost a "what if?" expression and paused before he said anything else. Now that we know his links to the all powerful Widmore family, and that it seems the Widmores have something to do with what's happening on Lost Island, could they have been behind Sarah's miraculous recovery? Though actually HOW they did it is another question, the timeline certainly leaves it open: Jack has already performed his surgery before meeting Des. Des leaves Jack at the stadium. Jack, sometime later, and after having showered, is back at Sarah's bed. Sarah regains consciousness and discovered she can wiggle her toes. I may well be on the wrong track here, but if true it would raise interesting questions about what Desmond knows, and how would this "miracle" get us closer to getting Jack on the island? I don't know that either But just before I open this up to everyone else, also remember how Des took special interest in Jack and Sarah's relationship just before he ran into the jungle in eppy 3. I thought it was odd that when he should have been keeping the conversation as brief as possible he still had to ask Jack what happened to the girl he "tried to fix", and then seemed slightly surprised that they weren't still together, almost as it he was thinking "that wasn't meant to happen". |

I mentioned a very similar theory just after the MOSMOF episode..and fully believe that this supposed 'miracle' wasnt in fact a miracle but the result of Dharma's advanced science. Which would mean that Jack didnt infact 'fix' Sarah but Dharma did. Or should i say Dhrama via Christian, because i think his role in that episode (and Jack's life as a whole) wuggests that Sarah's 'recovery' was part of his plan to mould and shape Jack into the man he is fast becoming on the island - a leader..a man who is now learning to let go and to think on his feet. A man of science who understand sfaith..a man made for the others..or should i say, Dharma.
I believe that Dharma off the island, gave Christian (one of their main off-island associates) a scientific cure for Sarah (much like Locke's 'cure'), in return for his son being delivered to the island (as agreed many years ago). Chrisitan wanted Jack to be open to faith, but to also be crushed by it once he had an affair with Sarah. It was all CHristians plan..it was all part of the chain of events that would mould Jack and eventually lead him to the island. I also feel that Desmond may have been a pawn in all of this too. His words to Jack were: "lift it up"..this is very similar to whats written on the blast door map. Anyway, whilst my thoery differs from your slightly..i do like it. The intorduction of Penny and the Widmores in LTDA, does cast another angle on this (possibly)! ![]()

Also, another interesting aspect in all this might be the fact that Des (according to him) was once in medical school. Like Libby..like Jack. Again, science lurks it's ugly head.
