LOL Wiz
I think its just another running thing that the writers put in now and again. Just like the whole Scott/Steve thing.

I agree with TDS and Nickeshi that it is one of the running phrases that they like to incorporate.
I also think that it does have an undelying meaning though..in that the island is in effect 'another life'..or the 'other side', in so much as it brings people face to face with their past. This is manifested in visions, people, dreams and events. For Hurley is was manifested in him coming face to face with 'Dave' once more. He thought he had got rid of him and got him out of his head but the island has made him face his fear once more. It seems that this is all part of the testing element of the island..making each of the losties face things from their past..their 'other life' and seeing how they deal with it, perhaps. I suppose another common phrase is the "2nd chance" one..and this other life that they are all in effect now living gives them a 2nd chance /opportunity to make a 'choice'..either a better choice than they did in their real world [like Sawyer with the boar and Hurley with Dave etc] or a 2nd chance to make a worse choice [like Kate with Wayne and Ana with Jason etc]. So ultimately i think the underlying concept of "see you in another life" is a clever way of the writers making us realise the importance and value of 2nd chances and the past catching up with us etc.. thats my view anyway, lol :P

I see it as possibly all the survivors have to be reborn. Not re-incarnated as such, but they have to get through this experience to get them through to the next stage of their lifes journey. I see it as more of a spiritual process rather than a physical one.

So far Nadia, Desmond and "Dave" (all supporting characters) have all made this same comment.
Michael and Jack (both flight 815 survivors) have both alluded to pre-crash events being a previous life. Its possible these supporting characters are part of something in the grand scheme of things, or could also be taken as our survivors are dead to the outside world. Much like "Henry Gale" told Locke, nobody sees this island so in a way it is like having Tabula Rasa and it is in fact "another life". Considering its very likely Nadia is a lab tech for Widmore Labs I wouldnt be surprised if she was hiding down one of the other hatches or worse still one of the others. Imagine if Sayid found out Nadia was the one "responsible" for leading Shannon to her death (in his opinion)? What would happen then? ![]() |

Yes Mantis, I do feel as though Henry's comment about 'God not seeing the island' could well be [in part] reference to the fact that the outside world assumes that they have all died..therefore like you and snowy mentioned they are undergoing a metermorphosis in a new life..a tabula rasa.
I do think that Nadia works for a company connected with Dharma or Hanso..I reckon that this research company/division could well be Widmore Labs. And it would be horrific, if not also ironic if Nadia was in part responsble for Shannons death..what a scenario that would be! Also, going back to what Henry said about 'God not seeing the island', this is interesting because of all the 'eye' imagery and references that we have had so far...I suppose in the absence of faith the scientifdic eye sees all..? Which means that although he is on the side of 'science'[?] he doesnt see that as being his God, his ruler.. ..is Henry rebellious i wonder? Ok that was a load of waffle..i will try to clarify what i mean later.

He did Nickeshi, to Danielle, but I think it was more to get her on his side as she had lost her lover too. In later episodes it appears that Nadia is still alive as the CIA were going to tell him where she was in exchange for his help.
