Hope (one-shot)

Well the good news (from my perspective at least) is that I've written some Lost fanfiction after months of doing absolutly none.

The bad news is that I seem to have channelled Beachy a bit and made Locke evil

[Spoilers up to late season three (couldn't remember the episode title)]

It did hurt. No matter what Jack said, it hurt like hell. No matter what everybody was whispering to each other about him, no matter how many times their smiles dropped when he came into view; as though they thought they may collapse dead just from being near him, it still hurt.

It had hurt since the vision, seeing himself back in the wheelchair and his mother pointing to that horrendous plane…

And then there was Boone. It would have been impossible not to have been repulsed by the deadness of his eyes, the tears across his chest and the blood that was seeping through his shirt.

He had been easy to manipulate, though the island had informed him how to do so in the vision. One mention of Teresa and he was more than willing to go through with the plan, unaware of the fate that awaited him at the end of it.

He shook his head, trying to remember that he was safe on the beach, not back, waiting for the plane to fall before digging through the wreckage for the corpse.

Only he hadn’t found a corpse, he hadn’t received what he’d assumed the island would promise him. Boone was still alive, coughing and spluttering, pain flashing through his features and despair already clouding in his eyes. Locke had flashed back then, remembering waking up after Anthony had pushed him, the shock that he had survived the fall.

And Boone had the markings on him, the same tears from the vision and suddenly Locke had felt hope again. His legs were working and the vision had happened and Boone was alive. He’d done the only thing he could think of, grabbing Boone and running full speed to Jack.

Everything immediately after that was a blur. He had somehow ended up at the hatch, screaming at the island and then he was at the funeral.

Despite the fact that, when he’d returned to the beach he had expected to find Boone alive.

He’d been alive when he handed him to Jack; he’d survived the prophetic vision with those exact external injuries and then the island had taken him regardless.

It wasn’t the fact that Boone was dead that was hurting him.

Or that he’d suffered rather than experiencing a quick and painless death.

So it wasn’t the fact that he’d become his father in another small way, that he’d willingly sacrificed someone’s life to help himself.

It wasn’t that Shannon was so devastated she was willing to become a murderer just to help ease the pain.

It was the fact that once again he’d been drawn in by false hope.

Yay! I'm so glad that my "Locke is evil" chanting is beginning to work, teehee.

But that was very good AP, I much enjoyed it It was so sad to think of Boone suffering through the pain - I want to huggle him.

And damn Locke, I'm with Abs on this one.

It only worked for one night. I still find Locke to be a great force of good in the Lost World :P

He does generally seem to need to be huggled lol.
