Yeah I think he said something like 'I know I wasn't part of the A-team that went to the Black Rock, but I rescued Claire's baby,' so that could suggest that he saw the trip to get the dynamite more important/exciting than helping Claire. Don't get me wrong I do think that Charlie believes helping Claire and Aaron as worthwhile, but perhaps he saw it as a bit of a substitute to the BR mission.
But nowadays I think that he'll put Claire and Aaron first, especially now he's had a second chance with them and doesn't want to risk being cast aside by Claire again.

But good grief what an annoying thing he was, poorly following Locke and then whining and moaning that he wasn't being included in and consulted about every single thing!

Ah I miss the early days on the C4 forums, when we got into debates with the distraught Boone fans who were sobbing their hearts out that Locke had murdered their true love! LOL You'd post a well reasoned defence/explanation of Locke's actions and the reply you'd get was 'omg how can you say that?!?! locke is evil and he just killed boone...boone was well fit I miss him '
