Whilst I abhor drugs, I couldn't help but wonder upon casting my mind back to the season finale, when Ben left Locke at the botanical station (Orchid).
Locke apprentely stumbled around looking for the plant that Ben had told him to find, but I wonder whether the writers added the cheeky subtext suggestion that Locke was smoking weed, hence his real inability to find the access point? After all, that botanical station was filled with weird and wonderful plantlife..and Locke should know all about them considering his time at the drug commune back in the day. so that begs the question, were Locke and Hurley smoking it up outside of the Orchid? Is this why Hugo was taking a leak - cos he wanted to dispose of any incriminating 'content'? ![]() Of course I'm only speculating on the creative subtext possibly placed here by the writers - it's just too covenient imo. Perhaps the message to all of the kids, was that drugs make you bumbling and confused - just like Locke was in that scene?? ![]()

Uhhh.. I don't think so lol. I think there were a few more important things happening, and plus if Locke was stoned he would have totally freaked out at the thought of Time Travelling bunnies ![]() He was definately in pursuit of the magic dragon in that flashback when he was helping that couple grow it all though ![]()

Haha, good point. We are talking about Locke though![]() That commune storyline was well funny, they never quite inferred that Locke used the drugs, only that he helped grow them. keeping Mr. Sheen nice and clean ![]()

Were you smoking weed when you started this thread?
![]() There are so many issues with this idea I don't where to start. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() Are you saying that it's impossible for there to be any underlying subtext in that scene?

Well the thought didn't even occur to me until you mentioned it Roco
Where did they get the weed from anyway? I don't think it would have just been lying around and, well, i doubt any of them had a lighter handy. Apart from perhaps Sawyer, but he didn't get there 'til later And cigarette papers? Bet no one had any of them either ![]()

No, I think Locke's drug of choice will always be his beloved wacky paste!

Sometimes I'm not sure whether to respond to threads like this. I get the feeling I'm having my leg pulled.

What about the Wacky Paste? ![]() Quote:
There's no way the writers were saying they'd been literally been smoking weed in between the scenes we saw them appear (while everyone's lives are in danger). One does not just smoke raw marijuana plants, which is the form they'd likely be in, assuming there actually were any at all. The untended plants would need to have been dried out to be ready for smoking, and even then, they still don't have any papers or a light. They could have been eating the plants raw, I guess, though it's not very nice for the stomach, but still -- I can't imagine them just finding marijuana plants and instantly eating them while they're 'saving the Island'. It's crazy-talk!I'd guess Hurley was taking a leak because he needed the toilet -- I don't see how him taking a leak would help him dispose of anything incriminating (and, incidentally, there's no law on an un-chartered island). I tend to believe Locke couldn't find the plant because, as he said, he didn't know what it looked like -- and we did see him looking -- not because he was high. He would still be able to find it even if he was high . . . It doesn't seem convenient to me at all! Even symbolically, it still seems like clutching at straws. I doubt anyone else had the same apparent subtext come across for them, which would make it a useless message. And what's with the propaganda? ![]()

Um no.
Though he will have smoked the greens at the drug farm. This would have been the conversation: Druggies: Ah go on it's cool. Locke: Erm...I don't know. Druggies: But it'll give you a good buzz man. Locke: Still...I don't know. Druggies: *Sigh* It'll make you special. Locke: *Stuffs marajuana plant up nose* And there is conclusive proof Locke smoked drugs

It seems to me as if a few of you know just a little too much about smoking weed if you know what I mean.
![]() What a strange subject to bring up. I cant quite grasp where you would come up with the idea that Locke was smoking pot. I know its been a long hiatus, but I think we're starting to read into things just a little too much now. ![]() Locke was definitly not smoking pot. He is way too cool for that. He never even smoked any when he lived at that commune. (Well, that we know of anyway). I think Locke likes his wacky paste way more anyway. I could see Sawyer and Hurley smoking it though. Could you imagine the nicknames Sawyer would come up with and how many times Hurley would say dude? lol ![]()
