I know many of us did theorise and speculate the idea of portals in the past..so it was good to see it kinda established in this episode (and 4.09)

With Ben's turning of the wheel, came his arrival in Tunisia.

With that in mind I wonder whether we can establish that this is one of the direct portals which leads to and from the island?

I would assume that there are others - one near Nigeria, perhaps..the other somewhere in the pacific..or perhaps Indian Ocean (Black Rock)?

As ben said, the variables of moving the island are not an 'exact science'. So by that I wonder whether he means the location of where you end up, or the 'time' of 'when' you end up, as this seemed to be his main uncertainty upon arriving in the Sahara dessert.

Well he sounded suprised when the receptionist asked him if he'd been to Tunisia before. Maybe he thought he'd end up somewhere else?

Hmm, I thought this strengthened the idea that this was were he 'suspected' he'd end up..but thathe just wasn't sure about the time.

Although I supposed he didn't bother taking off his jacket before pushing the wheel, so perhaps he wasn't sure he'd end up somewhere hot?

Well he was upset at the time I don't think he had time or the strength to think of that

Thats why the polar bear bones was there. It escaped its cage ran to the Orchid and went traveling to Tunsia - realised it was too hot and then died.

I wonder if there is a link to Charlotte being in Tunsia and her being 'born on the island' as hinted by Miles.

You think maybe Ben pushed the wheel a bit to far ? Perhaps this is why everybody is in danger, hence they have to ALL go back to re-move the island.

He may have done it accidently on purpose to have to go back- after all " Ben always has a plan.

well ben was throwing his toys out of his pram about Locke replacing him so I wouldn't put it pass Ben that he did this so he can go back and be leader again!

I just had a thought. Perhaps this is why Daniel is on the island. Just maybe he is able to remedy this. Maybe he has it down to an exact science

although i'm under the impression that the wheel has to be turned a half revolution - i.e. the turner has to go through the portal, and the only way to do that is to turn the wheel a half revolution..which is the point at which the electromagnetism opens up the portal

But what you say is interesting because as Ben said, it's not an exact proceedure. Which makes you wonder what variables govern it. I guess the same which govern space-time

I wonder how we can reconcile Ben's turning of the wheel/moving the island and Desmond's turning of the failsafe key/blowing of the dam/hatch?

One created a purple sky..the other created a bright white light. Now where have we (or Locke) seen that before..
