"Exotic Matter"

WTF!?

In the Orientation video inside the Orchid, Hallowax says that the Vault (the thing he put the bunny in and what Ben put the metal stuff in) was located adjacent to "a pocket of negatively charged exotic matter".

Personally I find this facinating, because not only does it sound cool () but it perhaps explains why/how 'antartica' is on the underside of that station. I mean, we see Ben go from tropical island cavern, to the north-polesque climes.

Could exotic matter help create a wormhole or portal..allowing an object to travel very large distances in a very short space of time? and what about the "negatively charged" part? Any physicists in the house?

Anyway, exotic matter? what's the deal?

I noticed this also - even rewinding his sentence to hear it again. Very fascinating indeed. Also, interesting point about the freezing conditions beneath the Vault. I wonder whether this phenomena was 'made-man' or 'natural' - or a mix of the two?

I think it is probably a natural phenomena which the D.I. used/manipulated for the purposes of time-travel.

ONe wonders whether the freezing conditions beneath the island will also be moved with the island..i guess one wuold assume so, seeing as the hydra island also got moved.

I don't see how Dharma would have created exotic matter, so I'll agree with Roco that it's natural and they merely used it for their experiments.

I wonder whether the matter is limited to that small area [i.e. the Vault] or whether the whole it covers the WHOLE station. Irrelevant I suppose. However, I wonder how on Earth they came across it in the first place - though I would imagine there are ways to detect such phenomena. I would not put it past them knowing what they were looking for.

I would imagine so. The area beneath the Island was apart of the Island so I can only assume it moved also. How do you know the Hydra Station was moved? Though yes I would also believe that would move also.

Since the small island nearby waas moves I'd assume the Hydra was moved too.

Oh sorry, yes I forgot about that. Thank you for pointing it out LL The fact moving the Island moved the smaller one too is interesting. Perhaps they were joined on the Sea bed.

Does the Peninsula always have to stay above the Sea level? I thought the Hydra was purely based on the second Island.
