There are a couple things that point to the fact Faraday knew what was about to happen.

The first is that he makes a point of telling Charlotte and Miles to make sure that they are on the next boat trip out.

The second is that when Juliet mentions she will take the boat when he comes back, Faraday gives a sarcastic laugh/response implying that he knows he will not be returning for another trip.

This suggests that Faraday is either from a future time period or has visted the future the same way Desmond visted the past.

I think his suggestion here came from his knowledge of the 2nd protocol - but how he knew about that is indeed open to speculation:

It could be related to The Constant - where Desmond came back in time and gave past Faraday "new memory" of future events. Specifically they seemed to place extra weight when Des told Faraday that he ends up on an island..

Also, we have Faraday's flashback in CD where he's crying. I'm wondering whether moving the island could have also moved Faraday back in time and space slightly, and this is why he 'doesn't know' why he's crying..?

He has knowledge of the Orchid, and possibly what it's capable of. He may have known what was going to happen?

Yeah I just assumed that he knows what the Orchid is. God knows how

but he I gathered that he knew that the island was going to move. He wanted Miles and Charlotte to get off because once it moved he knew that would be it and they wouldn't be able to leave (hence the forever bit). I wouldn't be surprised if Daniel knew every little thing about that island. He just wants to get a crack on a tell everyone

He has a diagram of the Orchid's symbol in his journal, and also has knowledge of the Secondary Protocol which concerns the Orchid.

Agreed.

It's also possible that his conciousness is also working on a different plain, however - I think they've hinted at that enough what with his "CD" flashback and his involvement in desmond's time-travelling. I wouldn't rule this aspect out.

Yeah it's strange that he seemed to know what would happen. He was certainly very keen to get Miles and Charlotte off the island. However, if he knew the island would be moved (which the Orchid symbol in his notebook would suggest) then it's possible he also knew that the freighter would be blown up. If that's the case why did he still take another group in the Zodiac when it has lead to them now being stuck at sea with nowhere to go?
I'm curious as to what's going to happen to him next season now, he just seems stuck.
