In the season 3 finale, the newspaper clipping which reported Jeremy Bentham's/Langtham's death (Locke) said that he was survived by 1 teenaged son.
So unless they've also changed the specifics of the clipping, this means that Locke has a son somewhere.. If this is the case, could it be that Locke really does go on to have a son on the island - perhaps because time on the island is different (especially now that it's 'moved') and so what would be a few months in island terms is actually many years in real-world terms? Obviously there's details to fill in, like why/how Locke came back etc, but I just think that it's interesting to consider who Locke's son could be and the circumstances involved.

The producers said the contents of the obit would be changed... considering it originally said a name that started with Jo and ended with antham. instead of Je and entham.
Considering its a fake identity, any alleged son might be made up in order to make the identiy seem more factual. Or perhaps there is a real Jeremy Bentham, which Locke stole the identity from. Locke having a son seems interesting though... perhaps this would bring Helen back in the mix.

Very true - the son could be made up to make it appear more genuine. Back in the day, when i threorised that the man in the coffin could be Locke, I used to think that his teenaged son would be Walt - perhaps this could stll work, with Locke/Bentham adopting Walt? Afterall, he did go see him. Unlikely but you never know.

I can't really see that Locke actually has a teenage son, and it was just put in on the obit to give a bit more info/background detail to Jeremy. Could also have been something to make viewers think that the man in the coffin might be Michael.
If Locke died when it was what, 2007?, then the earliest he could have had a teenage son was 13 years ago in 1994, when he was in the commune. And before that he was with Helen. So timeline wise it could work and I think such a plot could work quite well, but I just personally can't see it happening.

The thing about time-lines is that the show has blown the door open on time and the concept of space. Locke could have had a child in another iteration of 'Locke'. Although I do agree that it's probably just the identity he has assumed with no real relevance - except for the Jeremy Bentham philosopher reference from the creators.
