Default My most enjoyable 'Skate' and 'Jate' scene for ages!

This episode had one of my most enjoyable 'Skate' scenes in a LONG time. I thought all three actors played it very well..I especially liked how Holloway played the role of Sawyer..his reaction to seeing Jack and kate was perfect. He was almost like a little child who was over the moon to see his parents after a year at bording school, but also hesitent to show it because he had done something 'bad'. Of course it's not Sawyer's fault that Claire and Hugo are in danger (well, technically it is if we consider that he was one of the people who didn't listen to Ben and Locke..) but he obviously feels as if he's let the side down in not coming 'home' with Hugo and Claire. The guilt is written all over his face. Perhaps this is what motivates him to follow Jack on his 'rescue mission'? Which, by the way, was a very nice touch - I loved the way he marched on after Jack..a great moment.

Also, i was pleased that he did admit that Locke was right all along..Jack's face was a picture! Shame jack couldn't be as forthcoming - he just conveniently skirted over it! Poor form Jack. Poor form. Also, Jack gave Sawyer a bit of 'needle' by spitefully ribbing Sawyer about 'hiding' by going to Oversville. As if sitting out on the beach makes jack brave! What a moron. He just wants to justify his stance over Locke's - it's all about oneupmanship for Jack..even at a time like this!

And I HATE the way Jack keeps saying that "I did this" and "I did that" and "it was my call"..heck..sayid put his own butt on that chopper Jack! And no-one was going to stop Desmond from getting on that chopper from what I recall. why is jack claiming responsibility for that? I guess he just wants to fulfill this promise to get them all rescued that I don't even remember him actually and explicitly making Okay, perhaps he did make that promise, but still, he is but a man..he so needs to chill a bit.

Anyway, like i said, i thought this was a GREAT scene..one of the best Jack/Kate/Sawyer scenes for a long time imho.

Oh, I can't believe I forgot the BEST part..when Sawyer says the line:

"That SOB is stubborn!..Hold up, you don't get to die alone!"

A blatent shout out to Jack's 'live together, die alone' mantra.

Josh Holloway did an excellent job in this scene. The look on his face when he stepped out of the jungle conveyed relief, frustration, exhaustion, guilt, jealousy and love in a matter of five seconds. It was phenomenal!

It was even better when Sawyer followed Jack into the jungle. He hates the man!! Kate left him (again) for Jack and he still followed him without any outside pressure at all. Sawyer the bad boy is very protective of everyone lately. How can you not love this man?

Yeah, credit to him he absolutely nailed it. Can't wait to watch that scene again.

It was rather touching and made a mockey of his "everyman for himself" mantra which he restated in "TBoTE". I'm not sure how conscious he is of that, but it's encouraging to see him willingly selfless as you said. Personally I don't think that Sawyer "hates" Jack..I think he actually quite likes Jack but just doesn't know how to show it..or doesn't want to show it. I think that sawyer likes Jack more than Jack likes Sawyer - that's just how i read the relationship between them But yeah, he didn't have to go after him..perhaps it's indicative of how he'd like to be treated? Perhaps he'd like someone to come after him if he went off on his own into the face of danger? Perhaps he's also paying Jack back for the time on the Hydra when he helped facilitate his and Kate's 'escape'? All very interesting..much better than the boring Sawyer we had 4-5 episodes ago.

He's done good, but I think the only way I can ever grow to 'like' (let alone love) the man is if he dies. I don't mean that in a bad way..it's just that i feel he's got too much potential to undo any good work that he does..so i'd rather him do something incredibly good and brave (going against the grain kinda thing) and then die so that he doesn't disappoint me like he has done so many times in the past
