Charlotte and Daniel

Did anyone else get the impression that Charlotte had no idea what Daniel was talking about when he mentioned the secondary protocal and Keamy being at the Orchid. I think its odd that Daniel would know about this and not Charlotte since we always assume that Daniel is clueless about everything and Charlotte somehow knows more. I am beginning to think that our little physicist knows more than Charlotte does and more than we think he does.

Also did you notice the way Charlotte looked at Daniel as he drove off on the Zodiac? She appeared to look very worried about him. Maybe she does like him!

Daniel may know a bit more than he lets on but at least he's using this extra knowledge for a good purpose, something you dont often see on the Island.

Yeah good catch - it appears that Daniel has more foundation than it often seems. Sometimes he's a blundering mess, but he's got something about him, and his knowledge of the secondary protocol is interesting. I wonder whether he wasn't told about it, but through his knowledge and intellect discovered it..

I'm gonna try and grab some screenies of his journal as we saw a few interesting pages in there methinks.

and yeah, she does care about him even though she wont admit it. I like this thing between them - it's less obvious and in your face that many of the other relationships in the show.

Thought i'd post some caps of Faraday's journal pages from this ep:





Obviously we have 'The Orchid' symbol in reference to the greenhouse station (possible 'magic box'), but other terms and notations also grab my attention. He's written lots of equations which i wont pretend to know what they mean, but obviously he's gone through many variables and found out that it (whatever 'it' is - teleportation, perhaps?) is "POSSIBLE!"

The term "SPACE LIKE FACTORS" is also interesting, since we know that one of the Dharma/Others mantras was: "Only fools are enslaved by time and SPACE" - which is an allusion to the notion of time-travel, or teleportation or some other notion of 'time'. So from this, it would seem that Faraday knows that time-travel (or whathaveyou) is indeed possible via the Orchid.

What also interests me is how this reconciles with Desmond's time-travel, and the business of 'constants' and what not.

EDIT: Also, why has he drawn an ant/insect on that page?

I know I am probably slightly blind, but I dont see a drawing of an ant anywhere! Can you elaborate on where that is? Also, are there any mathematicians out there who can figure out those equations or tell us if they even make any sense at all?

I did a quick search for the term: "space like factors" and most of the searches bring up references to 'electromagnetism', which fits perfectly into one of the shows central theme

Don't mind me, i'm just documenting my thoughts:

I wonder whether Charlotte and Daniel's lives were always going to be in danger - seeing as Keamy is prepared to kill everyone but Ben..he'd even kill Lapidus if he weren't the only pilot.

Makes me wonder just what on earth Charlotte and Daniel were REALLY sent to the island for..considering Widmore doesn't even want it preserved! Ok, perhaps they needed Dan for the bearing stuff..but what on earth was Charlotte's real purpose..and Miles for that matter. No wonder Miles was so willing to sell out if his boss is so willing to erradicate his life.

She does care about him and like him at least to an extent, but I'm not if she is really that into him... In this interview Rebecca Mader says that Daniel is like a "cute little puppy" she "totally manipulates" because she is aware of his crush on her... although she does add that we don't know their history before the island, so I suppose she is leaving the possibility that there is more than that to their relationship.
