This, I believe, is the name of the speed-boat that Gault helped Sayid to use to ferry the rest of his friends from the island to the Freighter.

The name is an interesting one, because as you probably know, it relates to the the constellations, heavens and star signs (etc).

I'm just wondering why the creators decided to name such a (seemingly) insignificant boat such a prominant name?

Zodiac apparently means "Circle of animals" in Greek. It is also known to mean "path".

I guess "path" would make sense, seeing as this looks to be the Oceanic 6's "path" home (although i'm still hanging onto the 'magic box' idea

).

Anyhoo, just thought i'd mention it, since i haven't seen anything on this yet.

Sayid's method of dispatching of people by shooting them to death and running away isn't too far removed. That's what came to my head when I heard it.

Then again, 'Zodiac' ties in with the whole constellation thing they had going with the Dharma Stations (Cygnus, Hydra, Arrow etc.).
