Regarding Alpert's "selection test" with little Locke...

"After finding the boy at the fixed location who was born when the previous Dalai Lama passed away, observe whether there is any miraculous phenomenon from his looks and actions, his choice of the late Dalai Lama’s possessions from other similar things presenting to him and the intelligence test."
Ironic, of course, that Locke was tantalised so early with the possibility of being a major religious figure (bearing in mind the "Immaculate Conception" theme in "Deus Ex Machina"), only to learn yet again that he is no-one special after all.
Until now, apparently, though I would argue his all-too-obvious desire for messiah-hood badly undermines any credit this might have done him (to say nothing of the fact that his fanatical obsession is all directed upon saving the Island rather than the people on it... so what else is new).
