For me, this was one of the best scenes of this fantastic episode - Matthew Abbadon apparently working for Alpert and assiting Locke in his recovering from paralysis.
Here's the transcript of that scene - i've highighted/bolded the parts which facinate me: Quote:
Firstly I thought the dialogue was splendid - Sarnoff did a great job with that! I also love Lance Reddick - what an actor! This scene was just flowing with the good-stuff - i mean, Abbadon suggests to Locke that his surviving was a miracle and that he should see it as being a miracle - more allusion to the idea that if you believe..anything is possible. It's also interesting, i think, that at this stage Locke is certainly not a believer..he's turned his back on faith AND science! Understandable, no doubt.. I also liked the way Abbadon left Locke at the top of the stairs - at one point i thought he was going to push him down! It seems that he was trying to plant seeds in Locke's mind - or perhaps he has the power of suggestion? Afterall, he told Locke that "i'm alot more than just an orderly". Does Abbadon have a gift? Also interesting is that Abbadon said that he went on a Walkabout..and came out as someone else - does he mean in terms of mindset/ability..or literally as someone else!? I guess it just relates to the self-discovery thing, but i love digging into meaty dialogue like this.Great scene..although it does conflict with the idea that Abbadon is on Widmore's side..because in this scene he seems more aligned with Alpert? ![]()

Also, to add to this and the symbolism of Abbadon placing Locke right near the stairs - It's suddenly reminded me of Boone's whole "Terasa fell up the stairs..Teresa fell down the stairs" thing. Infact, wasn't that part of Locke's 'Deus Ex Machina' dream?
Not sure whether this connects to anything worthwhile, but it's worth looking back and trying to make more connections, as this episode - more than most - allows us to do that imo

That part with the stairs was really weird, i think! Abbadon sort of pushed Locke right towards the stairs and it looked like he was about to push him down them. Locke's face kind of gave that impression too. I wonder why this was done? What is it supposed to symbolise? It might just signify something like Locke's helplessness, perhaps, or maybe because Locke's father tried to kill him, he thought for a second that it was going to happen again or something...or it might be something bigger hmm, i dont know!
