Someone Give Michael Emerson An EMMY..NOW!

Sorry, but this has to be said - this man is incredible! I thought that his performance up to now been exceptional - the standout actor on any television show currently on air. But in "TSoTTC" he reached a new level, a plaine which only he occupies.

He was magnificent. Rarely am I moved to such proportions where I share the utter grief and astonishment of a tv character. For those 30 seconds after Keamy executed Alex, I was Ben.

It's not just that scene though, it's EVERY scene. It's almost as if the show was written FOR Micheal Emerson. He takes would be standard lines and conjures them up into stardust that captivates, evokes and and spellbinds his audience.

He should have won an EMMY last year (although I love Terry, so it's ok)..but this surely HAS to be his year. The man is incredible.

THANK YOU Michael, for being at the heart of possibly the best, most stunning, heart-wrenching, compelling and inspiring 40 minutes of television I have experience since 'Walkabout'.

You're going to love me for saying this...i actually agree with you for once!! Ben is an outstanding character, and Michael Emerson portrays him perfectly. He absolutely deserves an Emmy this year - he is a fantastic actor

Yeah, Ben is wonderful, and Emerson is just a great great actor. When all is said and done, and Lost is finished (and the prequel has started ), i'm gonna watch his career with great interest. Looking forward to seeing him Shine in more Movies too.

As I recall, the only reason that Ben as we know / love / hate him exists is that the writers were so impressed with Michael Emerson's portrayal of "Pseudo-Henry Gale" in S2, that they decided to expand the character. One hardly wonders... Season 2 was hitting quite a low when "Benry" came on the scene and got me instantly re-addicted to the show. How I hoped he would not turn out to be a liar... but even so, he is still a compelling presence. Emerson's performance is perfectly judged, always treading a fine line between weird charisma and all-out creepiness, which suits the character's immense moral ambiguity down to the ground. He handles the duality of the character extremely well, convincing us that Ben is - at some level - an idealist and a visionary, while making it equally convincing when Ben falls victim to the more petty, vindictive, and immature side of his nature (especially when he has any dealings with women, rather pathetically...). I can't think of any actor who would improve on the role, though I do sometimes wonder if they didn't originally intend to cast a younger performer: entertaining as it was to hear Widmore call him "boy", I doubt there can be all that much of an age-gap between them.

What makes me sad is that both Michael and Terry were only up for Best Supporting Actor last year, when they easily should have been going for Best Actor full stop.

Which makes me wonder who Lost will push for the bigger trophy next time: I have a feeling it will be Foxy, but he can't hold a whiff of a candle to Michael, Terry, Josh or HIC for lead actor material in my view and one of those should get it.

But yes, Michael definaely deserves an award come the next Emmys!

Unfortuately Jack is all too often described as the 'hero' and the 'lead' male character Or that Jack and Kate are the central pillars of Lost that the show is based around! Good Lord...

In my opinion I don't think that Matt Fox is as good an actor as the other four I mentioned, and I think it's a shame that Michael and Terry weren't entered into the Best Actor category by the Lost team.

Off the top of my head I can't remember, but no-one from Lost though. There might have been someone entered, but just didn't get down to the final 5(?) from which the winner is chosen from.

No, Matthew Fox probably isn't as good an actor as Michael Emerson or Henry Ian Cusick...but since the beginning the show has been marketed with Jack and Kate as the 'main characters', and even though that has changed now into more of an ensemble, it's still marketed the same really. I think its just kind of an unofficial change, if you get me.
