Default How much do you care about poor Jack?

Seems like poor Jack's got a dodgy stomach, but even if it turns into a full blown near death distaster that requires Juliet to cut him open to save his life, I fail to see where any tension or concern is supposed to come from us, the audience, since we know that he gets safely off the island and lives a healthy and happy life indeed up until he starts writing his own prescriptions again.

Jack will probably just use this as an excuse to be the first on board the rescue boat/helicopter/whatever when it comes, and no-one will argue against their fearless leader for doing so, what with everything he's done for them.

But Jack can't be that ill just yet, since we were treated to more of his shouting, violence and boring flirting with Kate, so we know he's still himself!

I did feel a mite sorry for him as he really did look dreadful in this episode. His dreams are falling apart and i feel that he's beginning to realise that he made the wrong call. Interestingly, he might not be the only one, if we take Hugo's 4.01 flash as canon.

Good shout about him using his sickness as an excuse to be the first on the trip home. At one point I thought that Kate might have spiked his orange juice again

TRUE, he had enough strength to flirt with Kate. She sure perked him up didn't she! Although personally I was glad to see Jack pick Faraday up by the scruff of his neck - he's a liar and his complicit. His cuteness is also wearing thin on me.

But no, i don't feel sorry for Jack, not in the cold light of day.

I think as a means of building tension it's just absurd. We know he's alive in 2007 - no threat to his life in 2004 is of any interest at all.

To be honest, i think the only reason for this 'storyline' was to bring in a parallel to the 2007 Jack. In this episode he reminded me awfully of the S3 flashforward Jack. He was starting to look ill and tired, and he was taking pills. I think it's just to show us 'the shape of things to come' for Jack.

Did you see how he was holding his back at the beggining? You think that gash in his back that Kate sewed up got infected?

I can just how this plays out though... everyone can't figure out what is wrong with Jack, he is on the verge of death... and Kate pulls out the crackers and makes it all better.

Any plot device that is likely to lead to more yawn-inducing, chemistry-free Jack / Kate scenes has to be bad news. I have thought so since "Tabula Rasa" and nothing in the interim has given me cause to reconsider. Indeed, as I suspect is the case with many, the only thing that kept me watching back then was that final rotating close-up shot of a superbly creepy-looking Locke (and since the next episode was "Walkabout" I must admit that I was amply compensated for sticking with it ).

Yeah you could see it on his face when he left the tent; that he's worked so hard to get everyone home and now it all seems to be for nothing.
Oh well Jack, that's what you get for ignoring Locke!

Nah, she was too busy sorting out her top straps that must have 'accidentally' fallen down as soon as Jack walked past! I was half expecting Jack to then turn around and give Juliet a big kiss causing Kate, in her grief, to try and swim away...

I still don't mind Daniel at the moment, but Charlotte is still just completey pointless though!
I wonder how Bernard came to learn morse code at some point though? Or when Jack actually spend enough time with him to actually know it!

And then they fall madly in love and the Jaters break the internet with their squeeing. Just one more reason to wish Jack dead really

This scene did seem to parallel future Jack in some regards, what with him writing his own perscription and seeing his plans and structured life fall about him.

That Kate/Jack scene was the most annoyingly terrible thing I've ever seen...
