![]() Well, RIP Alex, i guess we didn't see eye to eye on many things..mostly Ben and his work. But you were a cool kid, you had rebellion in you. I like that..shame it was misdirected. But your final acts of alerting O-Town and calling Ben 'daddy' showed that you were his apple and the tree wasn't far from you. I will never forget your final cries..i hope..i know, that you wont blame Ben for what happened to you, i know you'll recognise the fact that he tried to send you to the safety of the temple. Ben loved you Alex.. And Ben, though you grief must be so sharp right now, the fan community will rise up behind you and we shall be your strength ( ).Seriously, that was one hell of a scene..when you're so invested in these characters, their decisions, their plight, it really crystalises just how good a show this is. As i said, i didn't really 'like' Alex (although Tania..) but her death impacted me as much (if not more than) Charlie's and Eko's (i think Losty said something similar in the Official Discussion thread?) - mostly because i lived that scene through Ben's eyes, as he hid behind his curtains.. They say closure is the best way to put a seal on grief. Here's another for ya Widmore - REVENGE. ![]()

I found Alex's death poignant and, though I felt he could've avoided it at so many points, Ben's grief was genuine. But in reference to this - 'he tried to send you to the safety of the temple' - did 'He changed the rules' not slightly hint that it was all part of a game, or at least of a plan? That Ben knew precisely what was going to happen to Rousseau and Karl - that he had no intention of *their* reaching safety - and the only surprise was that Alex as well became a victim? That was sort of how I read the scene.

I don't think Ben ever had any idea that Karl and Rousseau would be shot. He looked shocked when told that Alex was their hostage. IMO, he believed she would make it to that temple before anything bad happened.
I officially hate Keamy and I can't wait to see the episode when he is killed. What he did was barbaric and I cannot believe Smokey did not get him. I'm not sure there was anything Ben could have done to save Alex once Keamy had her. I'm pretty sure that even if Ben had surrendered himself, Alex along with everyone else would have been killed. Also as Ben stated, Widmore had changed the rules. Was one of the rules that family members could not be killed or used as pawns? What kind of sick game are these people playing? Good-bye young Alex. I would imagine that as an actor you never want to find out you are going to be killed off of the show your on. But in all honesty, I'll bet their are a thousand out there who would "die" for the chance to be killed off of Lost.

RIP Alex, poor girl...her death had a far greater impact on me than Karl and Danielle's (still upset that Danielle is actually dead), possibly because it wasn't a sudden shooting and there was a strong chance that she could survive and that you kinda expect Ben's plans to work, and that she would have lived...you could tell that Ben thought the same thing, in that one of his plans failing is not a regular experience, and that he isn't so in control of most people and most events as he would like to think.
I also don't reckon Ben planned for Karl and Dani to get killed, and that his desire for them all to get to the Temple was genuine. Maybe he wouldn't have been overtly concerned about Karl and Danielle if they had died on the way but Alex had got there safely - maybe he did plan to eventually get them out of the picture one way or another in the future - but I don't believe that he had any idea that a group of gunmen would have taken them out.

RIP Alex. Yeah I said her death impacted me more than Charlies (shock, horror) and I was the exact same as Rocco as the few minutes after Alex was shot I was in
mode, frozen on my face.
