My mother had worked in media for 25 years and she told me all this information, it's true I swear!

We all know the Orientation video in the Pearl Hatch was dated 1980.

Well, the camera we saw, in my mothers proffessional opinion, definitley was put there later.

The pictures on the screen were High Resoulution, and they didn't have cameras THAT small in 1980. No Way. And there wasn't High Res in 1980 either.

I smell a rat!

Hmmm, good point. Though we don't know the size of the cameras in the Swan (as they seem to be embedded into the ceiling); perhaps the Pearl's camera was replaced as those who inhabit seem to be in on it anyway, so it would be possible.
Oh and that black and white television didn't look to high definition to me...

Funny you should say that, cause I thought that there camera looked a lot like CCTV and thats a modern concept.

Now Hi-Res I dunno, that roundish screen isn't a plasma exactly, and only one of them was working anyway.

They don't have a video set to play the videos recording (if there was any) though. Unless they take out the tape and play it on that reel but I doubt that.

I agree. Can't see them having a recording device. Why make all those notes and then flush them down the pipe?

Even if they had this would have to be running and erasing itself continuously without maintenance anyway as noone has been inside that hatch at least since the beechcraft fell on the door.

And as for a storyline it would make for a complete anti-climax. Surely Michael was meant to get away with it, cause we love him and will forgive him by S3 cause we all got such a short attention span.

Good point EPU. I heard they had 8 hour shifts (so 8/7 not 24/7 :P) then go back to the village.

I can't remember if they said village, they did say something about a boat though, so I presume there's a harbour around somewhere

i would guess the camera's in the swan are what we see desmond looking through at the begining of series 2...

as for them being 'replaced'....i dunno

EPU, if i had to guess, i'd say that's just what he believes they are....the blinding light? waaaay too bright if you ask me!

I'd guess they have a smaller mirror inside, taking up about 75% of the space (including other mirrors to magnify) and the housing houses something else i.e. state of the art cameras

Also - speaking of technology timelines, those mirrors were all digitally controlled...was that around in the 70's?
