Simply put.

For information about the Island perhaps?

What do they plan to do with Ben upon capturing him and does his capture and use have an "expiry date"?

From here I would imagine they need Ben to initiate the Protocol ["Torching" the Island] that Keamy and Daniel spoke of - though one would assume they ALREADY know how to do this through using that Dharma booklet.

Does anyone think Widmore will show up on the Island in the Finalé, as his comments in the Ben flashforward need not necessarily mean he does NOT arrive.

I wonder whether they would be working together, or whether Widmore is using Penny or vice versa - or whether Widmore has taken her hostage. I would imagine they would work together for a common goal, as we never saw them fall out in Desmond's flashbacks.

However, Widmore surely would NOT want Penny to reunite with Desmond?

I wouldnt say he is holding penny hostage but I do think he used both desmond and penny for his own gains

I guess Widmore needs Ben alive. He doesnt want him alive. The island is Ben's at the moment and I bet it's got something to do with the fact that if Ben is dead Widmore can't get the island for some reason.

Yes I agree with that. Though she could also be using her Father to find Desmond. Without his knowing of course.

Yeah that could be a good possibility and penny seems to know what she is doing, especially on how she found Desmond in the first place.
