As with Hurley's comic, is there any significant relevance to this comic book?
![]() I wonder who the man is supposed to be and/or represent in relation to Lost? Looks to be a plane passenger window and the two different Cities - one fine and one in danger. Could it represent the Island saving the world for instance?

And the question we've all got to ask ourselves is, of course, 'Does it pay to ignore the voice of warning?'
But who's warning? Jacob's, Locke's, Ben's? And about what? The safety of the Island perhaps, including the future of the people on it...a warning against those that seek to find and harm it.

The first that comes to mind is Ben's warning to Jack in the S3 Finalé as that was obviously the final nail in the Coffin as far as Widmore finding the Island with the Freighters.
Yes I think the future of the Island, as well as the 'consequences' of letting the Island fall into the wrong hands. I think "What is the secret of the myserious HIDDEN LAND!" may very well sum up what Lost - or atleast what the Island - is all about quite frankly. There will be ONE secret which will be revealed in S6 perhaps [?] that explains WHAT the Island is. Perhaps the Island is ACTUALLY explained in the book and this is why Locke KNOWS he has a Destiny because he already knows it, but has simply forgotten it - if that makes sense. It is in his subconscious - in the back of his memory. In Hurley's comic we saw a Dome, Scientists and Polar Bears - which ALL existed on the Island. The Dome purely because the Island has been described to be a Snowglobe [by Desmond]. History has already been written - they just are not aware of what lay ahead - while some already DO, they simply are not aware of this completely. Last edited by Reed; 05-22-2008 at 11:12 PM. |

Yes Ben's warning to Jack and co is a strong one, and like his Locke's warning to everyone that the people on the other end of the phone were coming to harm them was pretty much ignored or not taken hugely seriously by a lot of people.
And yes the comic does seem to be about the Island, with the title summing up the series very concisely really! Yes the Island does seem to be an entity - a character - all of its own, and there must be a reason - or even several - that make people go to such great lengths and sacrifice so much to find it or protect it or own it. Also the two cities on the comic remind me a bit of the S4 promo poster, where the trees are reflected in the shape of buildings in the water. Like a parallel land you could say...where the hidden land is different to 'regular' lands yes, but some of its core features are not that different at all. Every land needs some sort of rules after all... And I do like the time travel etc. theories that Locke has lived (if not all then a part) of the Island events before, and that some of these memories and experiences come through unbidden, like when he drew the smoke monster picture as a child. Maybe Richard knows that Locke knows vital info about the Island, and was trying to unlock it from him even back then...but Locke wasn't ready and Richard didn't get anything earlier then he would have liked, and so has had to wait until Locke came to the Island before he can begin work on him.

I know this doesn't really add anything to the thread, but I get a very "Heroes"-esque vibe from this comic book. As in Isaac's comics where he paints the future. I'm not suggesting this is the future as such but both Heroes and Lost are very focused on destiny and it just seems to work. If anyone else is feeling more articulate than me, please go for it...
