Please vote for your Cabin Fever Hero of the week. Please base your vote on the events from THIS episode, in order that we have a true and fair reflection of Cabin Fever's heroes.
Sayid Jarrah Bravery merits acknowledgement. Not only did Sayid stand up to the thug that is Keamy, but he showed loyalty to his friends by going back with a view to ferry them to the freighter and ultimately take them home. He also showed understanding and compassion when Desmond shirked his responsibility to his friends. John Locke Brave Locke. I have intentionally chosen this picture from when our Locke was at his lowest ebb..his most defeated state of mind, body and soul. I want you to look at those sad, lifeless eyes. How could this man achieve anything from this point? The truth is he's a fighter..he always has been. From birth he fought his way out of his mothers damaged womb early..it was his only chance of survival. He fought off infection and complications to grow into a quiet but talented young boy. Bullied by his foster siblings and outcasted by his foster mom he begain reaching towards things which he thought would make him be acceptable in the eyes of others. The knife..boxing..football. You name it, he reached for it - "Don't tell me what I can't do" became his early mantra. This will to please others became his curse..it left him empty inside..so he reached for his 'father', who subsequenly pushed him out of a window and stole his kidney. Paralysed and without hope, Locke's life was in tatters. The fighter had been put back into his last box. But Locke's openess to possibilites was rekindled..whilst many other people would have given up, he carried on fighting, battling, surviving.. The rest is history, and the passing of the torch earmarked one of the most important and proud moments in many a lost-fans experience. When Locke stepped up to the plate in a bid to save the island he not only took back his destiny, but he became the 'hero' many of us have been willing him to become from the moment we saw his beautiful orange smile. Locke is not a geek, a hunter, a farmer, a man of science or a man of faith - ultimately Locke 'IS' Captain Gault Brave Captain Gault. I'll pretend that I've forgotten about the 'don't trust the captain' letter, and remember you as a hero who tried to stand up for what was right (even if it did take you a while). Blinkered to the true nature of Widmore's mission you were an "innocent", just like Alex..just like so many before you. Matthew Abbadon I normally like to keep these down to three, but since I was unable to seperate Abbadon's role in inspiring Locke's 'journey of self discovery' and the other heroic acts in this episode, I thought i'd include him as a very worthwhile contender. It's also worth mentioning that previous to this he was seen by many as a villain simply because of his gravely voice and unblinking stare. Us Lost fans have surely learned from the misjudgement of Ben? Anyway, Matthew Abbadon may well be a man of Widmore..or hopefully he's on Team Alpert - but sides aside I hold him largely responsible for giving Locke the strength and inspiration that he needed to find his true calling. One should never underestimate the work of what you might call 'God' and the tools her uses to do his work. Bless you Matthew, for you played a huge role at a crucial point of Locke's life. Some may call it coincidence..me? I don't believe in it. FATE ftw.

John. Such bravery, such a sense of destiny. Many have knocked him down but he kept picking himself up and dusting himself down.
What I also love about Locke in this episode is his sense of 'compassion' - in a episode were we saw so much bloodshed, it warms my heart to see this man survive on a largely bloodless path. The man is simply a legend..an icon..an ICAN.

Has to be Captain Gault. While I acknowledge everyone else's positives in this episode, and although I love Locke, and although Gault ultimately failed, you have to admit that someone who stands up for what's right in the face of mortal danger, when it would have been so much easier to stand aside, is a true hero.
![]() Edit: Woops, I voted Locke. ![]()

This was a really hard choice this week but I've gone for Captain Gault. He lost his life trying to protect his crew from the violent murderer that is Keamy, and earlier also tried to convince Sayid and Desmond to hide from him upon his return to the freighter. On top of this he also let Sayid take the Zodiac which I believe will lead to the rescue of the Oceanic Six.
Locke was brilliant, especially so after seeing more of his backstory and would definatley be my second choice. Excellent candidates this week! ![]()

Has to be Locke, for pretty much all the reasons Roco said: Locke isn't someone who briefly and brightly shines as a hero for a certain thing in a certain episode, but has displayed brilliant qualities throughout the show - throughout his life - and this episode highlighted and enforced that. But with regards to this episode specifically, he was brave enough to enter Jacob's cabin and ask whatever was needed of him to save both the Island and everyone on it. He's just a great guy!
Captain Gault gets a well deserved second place though, for standing up for what he believed was the right thing to do at such a price.

Was a tough one between Sayid and Captain Gault but decided to go for Sayid because his work will get those people saved. He probably would've continued to do this even without the Captain's word.
