I am a little puzzled by this statement.
Emily is older than Cooper as we have seen in past episodes, yet Emily's Mother stated Emily's boyfriend for the night [whom I assume is ALSO the Father of the baby?] was twice her age. Are they the SAME person or different people? On a side note, Emily's Mother stated that Alpert was NOT the Father but could he be? Yes Cooper is Locke's 'biological' Father and Child Services [or whatever they were called] visited Locke at his workplace but perhaps this was all part of his Con? So if indeed Cooper was NOT Emily's boyfriend for the night, then who was? Alpert? Her Mother's reaction to Alpert at the hospital did not necessarily indicate she did not know who he was.

I think it is cooper because of the kidney and I wouldnt take the twice the age thing
literally as being twice her age, he could be 10 years older or something like that

Oh yeah, and you bring up some good points and I'm not saying that I'm right because I think it was meant to kept a mystery by the writers as if we need anymore

I suppose I always look for good old fashion "conspiracy theories" rather than the most simplistic answer, though Lost's mysteries have taught us to search deeper.-- Good idea esn, though Emily and Cooper appeared to be on "good terms", or atleast as far as she wanted money and Cooper was willing to give it to her. I cannot recall the reason he gave her money.

There was definately something in the way the nurse indicated to Alpert and said "Is that the father?" That definately means something...also if you recall, Emily's mother didn't actually directly say that Alpert was not the father - she just said something like "I don't know who that is". Perhaps Alpert IS the father/Emily's boyfriend, but Mrs Locke has just never met him? She may just have the knowledge that he is "twice her age" from somewhere??
Hmm...i'm not sure. I personally think John was involved in some sort of immaculate conception somehow, and that he was destined to 'save' the island. There was definately a reason why Alpert was referred to as possibly being the father, though. Unless of course it was a red herring...this is Lost, after all!

Perhaps Locke was a product of the Island, possibly in a PAST life? I read on LostPedia that the rest Alpert performed was a "reincarnation/rebirth test" - LostPedia. Perhaps Alpert showing up was purely because he wanted to see Baby Locke.

I don't think that Anthony Cooper was Locke's Dad, he said that he needed a kidney and Locke needed a Father figure. I think that Emily Locke sold out John for money.
I think that somehow Cooper has forced Locke to the island, if he wasn't paralised he wouldn't have been as determined to go on the walkabout so wouldn't have been on flight 815. Also remember the conversation with Sawyer about if he had a kidney he would have died when Ben shot him. Maybe the kidney transplant was a way to be sure he wouldn't die later when he was needed. Perhaps Cooper isn't as bad as we think ![]() |

Maybe thats why she wanted the money and he was whilling to give it to her ![]() Also, its that phrase "immaculatly concived", I do belive, that at one time, it was a phrase used when the parent (of grandparents even) were too embrassed to say where the child came from (ie because of the shame of being raped, child out of wedlock, underage etc) hence that term would have been used. Of course, in her slightly demented state, Emily would use that term litterally, but it had to come from somewhere, and maybe, it came from the fact that Emilies mother used that term herself to cover up any shame on the family. |

Didn't she just do the immaculately conceived stuff to con Locke into having an interest in his father's identity? That's what it seemed like to me in Deus Ex Machina when she was apologising for it all.
