I thought that too, 'Charlierocks'....there was an episode in season 2 called Man of Science, Man of Faith! Jack vs Locke regarding the hatch
Just found the recurrence of theme quite interesting here, although I have to say I feel no closer to getting any real answers!! lol

Yeah I was thinking about that episode and how the whole 'No I don't want to have an interest in science' defined who he was in that scene.
