Ben Didn't Kill Dharma - Lost Community Forums - Official Spoiler-free Lost Fansite

Ben said it himself - he didn't kill Dharma..the then leaders of the Others did. I'm assuming he's referring to Alpert and Jacob et al?

I always believed this was the case, as after the first phase of the purge, Alpert pats Ben on the shoulder, indicating that he was the instigator of the plan and not Ben..

I guess this puts Ben in the clear and cleanses more blood from his hands. Although i don't blame Alpert either, because as we've been told, Dharma weren't exactly on the island for alturistic purposes and couldn't coexist with the "natives"

Ben was involved in the gassing so he did kill Dharma. Even Locke was sickened by Ben's actions.

Locke = Murderer
Ben = Mass Murderer

Hurley = Hit and Run Murderer

Ok so Ben 'only' killed his pappa fair enough.

But Im not convinced RE Dhrama - Ive always belived that they could simply represent one side of the islands purpose. Indeed, Ben made the comment that the island rejected him - so maybe he isnt doing the right thing by the island after all?

Ben commited the sin, he killed them... I say it's more his doing than anybody else.
Coming up with an idea is one thing, but commiting it is something very different.

LOL. Exactly!! I find it hilarious how Roco always sticks up for Ben and thinks the sun shines out of his backside, yet when another character does something remotely nasty they get absolutely slated. Lol...it does amuse me

I have to stick up for Roco here.

1) Ben wasnt responsible for the Dhrama masaccare, he was only responsible for the killing of Roger. Other people gave the order.

2) Ben may be saving the world here.

But on the other hand, and why Roco does need to crictise Ben more:

1) He still took part in an act of genocide

2) We only know Bens side of events - and he could be lying, and has Ben himself pointed out, the island allowed him to get sick, where as it made John get better.

What was interesting in that scene was the choice of words.

Ben was NEVER the Leader of the D.I - though he insinuated he was.

So who was the Leader of the D.I? Horiss? I think not as he was a Mathematician.

I get the impression he could have vetoed it if he wanted to, given his apparent position within the group even at that time, assuming it wasn't Jacob that ordered it.

when the two main people on the boat go to a room (i forget) i distinctly see the dharma logo on the "secondary protocol" booklet.

Interesting, I missed that. Just to clarify you mean when Sayid and Desmond went into the Medical Room on the Freighter boat? I wonder how they got ahold of that booklet.
