from the moment he stepped on Aaron's toy and reacted with such scorn and contempt, questions were planted about whether or not Jack is father material.
Even though it must be strange for him having the parent Aaron, he seems almost sickened (or saddened?) by the sight of young "Turnip-head". He looks at him as if he's "Damon" the Anti-Christ of something equally repulsive. That said, it's ironic because normally it's the people who had bad upbringings themselves who make the best parents when it's their turn - at least that's how the media (Hollywood) usually portrays it. Yet for Jack - a man who had a terrible upbringing, this seems to have made little difference to the way in which he treats Aaron. Perhaps the man is just not father material, or perhaps it's just to "weird" a situation for him to deal with..? I just worry about him giving Aaron a 'complex' and reflecting his own negative childhood onto the young'un.

I guess it's just weird for him, I don't think we know enough to judge whether Jack's father material or not. The fact that he was asking whether he was good or not with Aaron shows he's at least willing to try.

True. He's always willing to try though - "commitment is what makes you tick".
Perhaps he's not trying hard enough with Aaron..or perhaps he's trying too hard. Ah, i don't know ![]()

Perhaps he's feeling guilty about Kate raising Aaron as her own and joining in the little pantomime. I get the feeling the circumstances in which Kate gained Aaron were less-than-ideal. Maybe Jack sees Aaron as a reminder of the island, mote so than with the rest of the O6, and can't handle it?

We dont know how Kate got Aaron and if it was due to Claire dying he's forever got the reminder of his half sister dying. [If he knows which I'm presuming he would do]

Also didn't Sarah think she was pregnant and Jack didn't hide his excitement when she wasn't. I don't think he wants to be a Daddy, let alone to someone else's child.

I think the whole thing is just a really strange situation for Jack. I mean, him knowing that Aaron is Claire's baby, and now having to bring him up and everything. Also i think Jack is worried about his abilities to be a father - his dad wasn't exactly a great role model, and i think Jack just doesn't really know how to be a good dad.

I also think that Claire dies and Jack is reminded of this. I get the impression that Jack has only JUST moved in and accepted [in himself] to be with Kate and Aaron so it is still new to him. Not only is he suddenly a Father but the circumstances are hard for him to deal with.
I think he is a good Father because there was NO reason/s in this episode to suggest otherwise, except his 'alcohol abuse' - which I blame on Hurley and Charlie [and the Island]. It seems Jack was contempt enough to kick his addiction and live a happy family life. Jack is a good man in my opinion and he always has been despite his flaws - which we ALL possess as people.
