Why did the Black Smoke allow Keamy and his team to live? One would assume Ben ordered it to kill the entire team after what happened to Alex, yet from what I can tell the entire team survived. That one man whom was hurt did not really look that hurt.
It just seemed a little unrealistic. The 4x10 advert showed Keamy had survived the attack which I could believe. Perhaps he managed to luckily creep away. What we witnessed was the Black Smoke brutalise Keamy's men, though what was supposed to be revenge quickly turned into a Sparring session at best. Strange. Or perhaps their bullets had some affect on the monster? One explanation is the monster cannot deal with several objects at once.

I think some of them died but Keamy and his mates survived because they must of had the sense to run

Can you remember how many there were in 4x09 and then how many we saw in 4x10? It looked about the same number to be but I cannot be sure.

Well so long as a few died I am quite happy - which sounds rather sadistic. Though I just cannot get around the fact anyone walked away alive.

It would be interesting if they knew about the monster before hand and have a way to combat it.

Well some of the 'redshirts' sure werent told what to do seeing as they were shooting at it. Maybe Keamy and his 'close mates' only know.

Did anyone else happen to notice that during the scene when Ben says good-bye to Alex his hands are completely covered in black ash? The only reason I can think of for his hands being black might be from when he released Smokey. I don't think the directors would have blackened his hands if they didnt want us to see this. What do you suppose he has to do in order to release Smokey?
And the question I really want an answer to.....Who puts Smokey back? Or does he go back in by himself?

I was quite disappointed too...
The monster made minced meat out of the pilot in a matter of seconds, so why it decided most of these guys were less worthy of its power, I don't know. Really, it must have just been trying to scare them away. ![]()
