What is Kate doing for Sawyer?

This hasn't been pointing out yet so I was wondering if nobody noticed it or just immediatley dismissed it as unimportant, but I thought I'd start a thread on it anyway.
In the last flash-forward of the episode, during their little spat Jack asked Kate where she'd been, who she'd been with and what she'd been doing. Despite her efforts to avoid the questions she reveals she's been doing something for Sawyer. We also learn that Sawyer is still on the island and that he chose to stay behind.
Here's a brief extract of the little fight:
Jack: I wanna know where you were. I wanna know who you were with.
Kate: It doesn't matter, Jack. please.
Jack: No, tell me. Tell me!
Kate: I was doing something for him.
Jack: For who?
Kate: For Sawyer.
Jack: But he's not here, is he? No. No, he made his choice. He chose to stay. I'm the one who came back. I'm the one who's here. I'm the one who saved you.
So this bodes the question: what was Kate doing for Sawyer?

Wouldn't surprise me if it was something like that. Kate has a passion for other people's kids.

thign is interesting... people seem to have dismissed jack saying "i was the one who saved you!" for me, that is more mysterious than kate doing sawyer a avour. however, all the more, i do think it was to do with clementine.

Maybe Jack saying he's the one who saved her was him saying he got her off the island. In present (on-island) time, Jack has said "I'm gonna save you." to various people on several occasions when he means he's going to get them off the island. It's curious though.
About Clementine, does Kate know about her or are we assuming that Sawyer will tell her between now and when they leave the island?

Yeah, i think it's something for Tangerine Phillips - also worth considering that Kate and Cassidy knew each other indepentally of Sawyer, as they met in some dreary S2 episode..or was it S3?

S2 I think. Good point about them knowing each other. So it looks like Kate is what, watching out for Sawyer's daughter?

Im not too sure if it's to do with his Daughter though, as Jack surely wouldn't mind. I think it could be one of 2 things. At the moment Claire and Aaron seem to be the things that Sawyer cares about so maybe Sawyer has asked Kate to do something for Aaron.
The other thing that I keep remembering is the fact that Sawyer told Jack about the conversation with Christian in the bar, to let Jack know that his Dad was proud of him, without actually questioning Jack. This was when Sawyer was the bad old Sawyer, so maybe it's something to do with Jack but I'm not sure what?? Perhaps Sawyer was the one who let Jack leave the island, rather than him choosing to stay??? I haven't quite thought out the logic of the second point but I do feel that Sawyer has helped Jack before, and the way Jack emphasised that Sawyer chose to stay just seemed a bit odd!!

I think it's his way of getting Kate to focus on him rather than Sawyer, like a "He chose to stay (away from you) I chose to leave (and be with you)." sort of thing. I think it's just the fact that she's doing something for Sawyer, thereby doing something that is reminisent of their life on the island (which they've been lying about off-island), and also something to do with his former love rival, is what's drove Jack over the top. Let's not forget that Jack also goes through a minor breakdown in these flashbacks - possibly this is shortly before the way he was at the end of the S3 flashforward?

I would hasten a bet. She seems to think it's wrong enough not to tell Jack in the first place, so i think it must have somethino do with Sawyer's Tangerine.

I think that this kind of betrayal is enough to send Jack off the rails..especially if she's effectively looking out for another mans child and she can barely look after her..or rather Claire's own. The fact that she has a maid giving her a hand (i.e. doing all the work) makes me take jack's side in this.

It's like they say -why walk before you can run?

Of course, it may have nothing to do with Satsuma Phillips, but i'm inclined to think it is.

Hmm, i think he would mind a great deal - Jack is a jealous man..and those 3 have 'history'. I think he'd rather cut out his own eye than have Kate have anything to do with the man. Kate's a girl who runs away from things..yet for her to still have emotional ties to Sawyer, would be a gut wrench to Jack, i think.

Interesting..but what could it be i wonder? Considering her attention seems diverted from the Turnipmeister.

Interesting point to bring up - not sure how their meeting ties into the current/future story, but you could be onto something.

I don't think that Sawyer was the one who 'saved' Jack though..I don't think he's in that position. but then again, Aaron has to get to Kate somehow, so perhaps Sawyer does have a say in who stays and who goes..?
