So Where's Penny?

Ok, so "the hunt is on" (love that btw) for both Widmore and Ben..but where IS Penny? where could she possibly be that Charles is so confident that Ben wont be able to find her?

If i'm not mistaken this encounter between Charles and Ben took place sometime in 2005..maybe 2006? We last saw Penny right at the backend of 2004, when Desmond spoke to her on the Freighter via phone.

So, was Penny in this 'hidden' location at that point? Doubtful, since she had an outside line (etc). So where is she now, and how did Charles manage to get her to into 'hiding'? Assuming she IS in hiding?

It's all very confusing..i'm even beginning to think that Penny could already be dead - Charles was drinking heavily and seemed somewhat downbeat - is this what he meant by Ben never finding Penny - is she now a spirit? But Ben can see spirits..

OR, could she be on another 'special place'..another island, perhaps? After all, whose to say that Widmore doesn't have his own 'crown jewels' (special places)..

Any ideas/thoughts/opinions on Penny and where she could be etc?
