Faraday - beeps and boops

While there is some truth to what he and Charlotte say, they tell an aweful lot of lies filled with vague and often unanswered answers that must be very frustrating for the Survivors.

I think Sayid, Desmond and Michael have likely taken over the Freighter and killed the remaining occupants and THEY were the ones whom replied to Faraday. either that or the Doctor we saw was a duplicate as a result of "space and time"?

Why did Faraday bother to lie when he knows the next morning when the helicopter did not arrive he would be privy to yet more angry questions from Jack. Kudos to Bernard btw. I suppose Faraday simply thought the Doctor had committed suicide in similar fashion to Regina.

I think Jack losing his cool with Faraday is long overdue because by my count days have [possibly] passed since Faraday last contacted the Freighter. Can anyone remember what happened to Faraday's Radio Transceiver which as of this episode was explained as being broken?

A duplicate would be cool. Or the morse code conversation was contacting the freighter in its past, and the doc having his throat cut has yet to happen at that point. Or it is contacting the freighter in the future, and the doc who is fine is a post-illness Jack, who will at some point be airlifted to the freighter for emergency treatment.

All five of the original freighter people had a sat phone thingy. Dan's got left in his pack and lost when they bailed from the chopper. Frank's got splatted when the chopper landed. But there were originally three working ones (Miles, Charlotte, Naomi), and at least one still had the green light on when Dan and Charlotte were heading to the Tempest. Why they are all broken/lost now is a big mystery.

Excellent theory. VERY likely actually. We know about the time issues from what Faraday has stated on the Island.

Re: the future Freighter, that is interesting although somewhat creepy to say the least. They are contacting themselves.

I thought it was simply my memory, so that is interesting. Foul play is possible, possibly by Faraday and Charlotte - very untrustworthy people.

Hmmm, i am not a big fan of that Charlotte because i think Faraday would actually tell the truth if it wasn't for her, which i find very annoying!!! I am still a little confused though as to what they are actually doing on the island, i know the boat is there to get Ben but why send a man in who can contact ghosts, a scientist and a Archaeologist in?? What are they actually there for? I'm not sure if i have missed this bit or it i am just being a little thick

No you are not alone, they have not done anything on the Island since arriving. Originally everyone thought Miles was their to contact Jacob and the spirits on the Island, Charlotte to research the Island's history and Faraday for Scientific experiments. The whole Operation is a little puzzling to be honest.

I think Faraday made a mistake by revealing to Jack that they do not plan to rescue the Survivors and his little lies have made me dislike him a little, though I still like him however.

It makes you wonder whether each were recruited for their individual skills or whether they just happen to have these skills.

This is something that has bothered me too. Clearly there is more than one objective. The science team went in first, and their first task seemed to be to disable the Tempest (or at least remove the capability to gas everyone on the island). Then the goons with guns went in to get Ben. Presumably if they had managed that, then the science team would start work on their investigations or experiments or exploitation, or whatever they are there for.

I know, i just dont get it yet, i do hope they explain it though, because for some reason the writers have a habbit of starting new things but not properly explaining. Sometimes things are answered in the next season or something but i do want to know!! It is just a weird combination.

But that is what makes Lost great, it keeps you guessing, unlike Heroes which gives you answers immediately. The whole Tempest situation confuses me so hopefully it crops up again.

Very convenient that Bernie knew morse code..infact it made me laugh, almost as if they're suggesting that just because he's prehistoric, he simply must know morse code.



But yeah, the subtefuge with Red and Faraday was an interesting plot device. It showed Jack's faith (HA!) in his own decision (to 'make that call') was flawed, whilst showing us that even loveable Dan is capable of lies and deceit.

Jack seemed to know that Bernard knew Morse Code - they must have had a few conversations off camera. And Bernard is rather old, but they say people are 10 years younger these days anyway. But it was a nice little moment.

I think enough is enough - either they tell some truths, face torture and/or are banished. They are like snivelling little rats who always lie, tell half truths and whom clearly have their own agenda. But in spite of this I still like Faraday, and even Charlotte to an extent.

you reminded me of Charles Widmore the way you called them "snivelling little rats" - but i agree, they're very sneaky individuals! How they got away with the Tempest fiasco, and allowed to re-interate into the group is anyones guess

True..although it's perhaps worth considering that without the helicopter, Naomi and the rest of the freighties would'nt have made it to the island. Speaking of which, how did Naomi get the right bearings - did Faraday tell her? If so how did he know the correct bearings before he had even arrived on the island? ..unless years of Widmore research/journals etc helped him to work out a 'best guess'?
