Jack's illness?

Well it cannot be too bad because he leaves the Island but this should be interesting for the next several episodes. I think this is his ticket off the Island in the race for who deserves the presumed limited number of spots - 6? - on the helicopters home.

I think it will likely be a false alarm and ultimately nothing serious. Has someone poisoned his water for instance? I doubt it is the Sickness however.

well we were looking at the preview of the next episode after it had finished and my dad said it could be his appendix because of where he was apparently putting his hand whilst in pain.

Yea we thought Appendix or Kidney's, we thought possibly Kidney's cos he was drinking water in the last episode!! I wonder if this is his way of getting off the island, it is a good reason!

Kidneys are at the back so he'd be holding his lower back in pain if it were those.

I vote that it's his appendix or spleen but that's because I'm a worrier and whenever I have a stomach ache I presume it's my spleen or appendix

I do hope he's ok though. I like your idea Reed about this being why Jack needs to leave the island. Also, it makes me feel better about him possibly abandoning people - if he's ill, he has to leave.

That is if the powers that be have any remorse for his situation. The thing is, Faraday's remark [about not being there to rescue them] contradicts the bringing of Sayid and Desmond to the Freighter. So I am not really sure what to believe. But we DO know that 6 leave the Island and so I would believe Jack's illness gets him his spot.

I agree, it is less controversial than Jack ditching his people as it were. I would like to think the Oceanic 6 left under odd cicumstances. So if this is the case, I take it Jack is seriously ill.

No, I'm not sure what to believe either. I want the reason to believe that Sayid and Desmond were taken as a gesture of good will, and that the others will be taken in due course. Although what happens to Desmond in that time I don't know. But yes, if Jack is seriously ill then it's important that he gets help.

I so badly want the Six to have a good reason for leaving, and a good explanation for why they could only be six people. Jack's illness makes me think that we may get this. But I still worry that Jack and Co. are going to "ditch" their friends, as you suggest.

But I cannot help think about Faraday's comment in 4x09. Perhaps it was to keep the Survivors off their backs so to speak, though surely they realised that was not going to last very long because the Survivors were instantly asking why the helicopter had not returned. Seems like a big mistake to take Desmond and Sayid in the first place.

I think under certain cicumstances they were somewhat "forced" to leave - for example in a hurry or as they were under attack from more Freighter people. I think ultimately some of them will leave without considering their friends. I get the impression Jack will be too ill to have a clue what is going on. Why Sun leaves Jin is beyond me, Kate will leave solely for Aaron while I am having trouble remembering whether we have been told the 6th member of the O6.

Edit: Of course, Hurley, Sayid [and Desmond?]. I am too confused to work this out.

I think each will not necessarily "ditch" their friends, but ultimately they are doing so regardless.

I think him being taken away because he's ill is good, maybe he gets hooked on medication and that's why he's a mess off island... or maybe he feels quilty about leaving even though he was ill.

I just felt Faraday is not very trustworthy now. Though I have no idea why they would want to poison Jack.

It is very possible he uses this medication as a result of his illness on the Island though I would have assumed it was because he was depressed. In the S4 FF, Jack seemed to be in good shape so I take it his illness passed by then. BUT I would not rule out his illness being the reason he began taking the pills.
