Are Claire and Sawyer being protected by the island?

Im just wondering, because Claire and Sawyer should, technically should have died last night. Claire surivived a rocket explosion, without a scratch, and Sawyer turned the previously expert marksmen who could hit a water bottle at 1200 paces into James Bond henchmen.

Could it be that in equal and opposite to the LC 6 there is also an Island 6, that is still on the island, somhow doing the islands work - or even working against it??? Is this why Sawyer and Claire were allowed to live last night? Or is there a dying destiny for them yet, but theie work is still not yet done??

When the house blew up I was not really bothered as to whether she had died or not, but when she did survive I was happy she had. And it goes without saying I am glad Sawyer survived - as if there was anyone doubt however.

But to answer your question, I am suprised the Island 'allowed' any of them to leave in the first place. Somehow Sawyer managed to out perform the likes of Rambo and Schwarzenegger and mysteriously dogde dozens of bullets from ex-Military of all people.

I cannot see why Claire or Sawyer are "needed" by the Island. But regarding Locke I think there could be MORE to Ben's comments than simply needing him for the purpose of contacting Jacob.

I think that Aaron, along with Walt and Locke, are the "special" ones.
If the island knows as much as it seems to then I'd think that the only way to get Aaron back is to keep Claire alive so there is a reason. As Kate has Aaron and has been known to be a tad seflish!! then I'd bet that Sawyer is the best bet to get her back if Claire didn't work. Maybe this is why Jack said they needed to go back???

Yeah, i think it's very likely that Claire and Sawyer are being 'protected' by the island...the fact that neither of them died in the attack on othersville was rather unrealistic...

I think many of the Survivors could be being protected by the Island.

The thing that confuses me is why the Island lets people leave in the first place. I cannot see why the Island really needs Aaron to be honest, unless he serves a purpose in later years to combat a "future threat" to the Island?

Perhaps the Island can only control so much, otherwise it could make ANYTHING happen and undesired things NOT happen.

Regarding Jack, that is an interesting idea that they need to bring Aaron back though I would imagine they need to rescue people.
