Yeah, I can see the rational that Keamy wouldn't kill her because it wouldn't get Ben to come out if it didn't affect him. However he'd already stated that he knew what kind of person Keamy was so he knew he would probably murder her in any case if Ben didn't come out, it was also glaringly obvious to us (and so also to Keamy) that it was a last ditch attempt, and finally he knew what it would do to Alex.

So yeah it has more downs than ups as a decision.

That's exactly what I thought It seems a bit of a weak argument on Ben's half, especially seeing as he's usually full of pretty good 'counter-proposals'. But Ben genuinely didn't think she would be shot because of these apparent 'rules' that are down somewhere.
Also I think it was done by the writers so we wouldn't sympathise with Ben 100%. They wanted us to feel sorry for him a little bit but still kind of blame him as it's still undecided on whether Ben is a bad guy or not and the writers kind of want to leave that to be answered in others ways... if you get what I mean. I don't think I even get what I mean sometimes

great episode but too much happened that just wouldn't happen
- claire surviving the explosion
- sawyer not getting shot

funniest bit for me was when, i think they were all arguing, and then the doorbell just rang made me and my boyfriend laugh.

and the look on Ben's face once Alex was shot will haunt me for weeks lol.

Agreed lol. I've come to the conclusion that Claire is indestructible. A house was blown up with her inside and she emerges with...a headache.
