When Push Comes to Shove..She's Daddy's Girl

Alex hates her father, so much so that she have John Locke gun before their walk to Jacob's-ville - imagine giving a gun to your fathers opponent? Imagine what it must take to do such a thing.

Sure, Alex feels that her father is dictating her life for her, she can't see past her teenaged angst, but still, it took some doing and said alot about her feelings towards Ben.

With that in mind - as well as her other anti-Ben actions which I wont bother mention - it made me laugh when push came to shove and she willingly declared herself as "Ben's daughter"..

She said it with such pride and gusto, obviously knowing that this could save her life. But the thing is, she had just lost Karl (not to mention Roussy) - the 'love of her life', apparently. Now if Karl meant that much to her, as we were led to believe, would she so quickly re-affirm herself as 'Ben's daughter' to save her own hide?

I mean doesn't it say something that when push came to shove, she wasn't prepared to follow her 'love' romeo and juliet-esque into the afterlife, instead choosing to screw whatshisface and mother dearest and declare her sudden 'pro-Ben' stance.

I guess when all is said and done, she's daddy's girl afterall There might be hope for her afterall

You must expect though Roco the fact that she isn't really Ben's daughter unless Rousseau and Ben were um well you know in the jungle

Im not sure, I just took it that she would do whatever it takes to survive (just like her old man then)

I dont think there was any pride in her admission at all. Quite the opposite in fact, I think that it was meant in a "I have information" type thing and making that admission was the quickest way she could think of to save her own life - otherwise (from her view), "they" would have shot her.

That is of course, if she thought that the people who were shoting at her were indeed the people who were after Ben and not some random group of renegade others who saw Karl and Danille and made 5.

Noooooo she isn't She might have that 'love' that everyone has for their family (and taking Ben's the only family she's ever known will add to that) But it doesn't mean she actually likes him. After the Karl/Danielle hit, she'll probably hate him even more

But she is Ben's daughter - it takes a boy to have a baby but a man to raise and love a child, even if it isn't his own.

Pride or desperation, she was quick to attach herself as being a decendant of Ben's loins. Such a departure from her anti-Ben ethos struck me as being rather...interesting. I think Karl would have rolled over in his grave had he seen her do that. Oh, wait.

Yes, Ben himself told her that. I'm not for one minute suggesting that this information was given fruitlessly - but i find it rather funny that she should 'betray' Karl (if you will) by leaving him to bleedout and attaching herself to Benjamin..the man she hates..apparently.

Call it fickle or a girl coming of age, but it gave me a chuckle seeing her do a 360 better than an X-Box

Interesting - although I'm not saying she likes him per se, but therein lies the irony and shamelessness of her actions. Her rebellion has been broken and perhaps now she will understand that she has only one father but Karl's are like fishes in the sea..and boy is he swimming with them.

Yeah but there are many parents in this world whose children are not biologically their own - yet many of them love them as if they were there own and more power to them, cos parenthood is thicker than blood..

Well i can't see that day coming anytime soon, he'll always be the only father she has and she'll need him more than ever now.
