Default Furture Ben and Sayid

So Sayid has just blown Michael's cover to the captain. Assuming the captian didn't know this already Sayid has effectively blown Ben's plans to pieces, Now, we can assume, the Freighties will be able to fix the boat and eventually reach the island, so Sayid can also be accused of unknowingly sentencing everyone on the island to death if the Freighties do manage to capture Ben. We know, due to flashforwards, that some people do manage to survive in the furture (the Oceanic 6 plus Ben), but whether anyone else does is still uncertain.
This is probably a big leap but in the future we know Sayid works for Ben. My theory is that he's working for Ben in the future because of the results of his revealing Michael as a spy - thereby ruining the lives of everyone on the island - possibly ending their lives. I suspect Sayid' actions would have unintentionally led to catastrophic results - remember "If you make that call every living thing on this island will die", possibly as soon as the boat arrives? We know Ben manipulated Michael into working for him so maybe he does the same to Sayid sometime after? Could this be Sayid's form of pennace?
I am going to take a further strech and make another assumption. In the future both Ben and Sayid were speaking about someone under the name of "the economist", I think this will have been Charles Widmore. Ben - and Sayid if my guesses are correct - will have reason to want to get back at him.
I just thought I'd put my ideas out there so others can give there veiws.

Yeah, I agree with much of that - Sayid, like Michael now, will come to feel much regret in his actions. I think that a key clue is also the fact that in 4.03 Ben told him:

"You remember what happened the last time you thought with your heart instead of your gun"

A powerful line, which suggests that Sayid's ultimate reason for feeling so responsible/guilty is that he goes on to do something later on which may or may not be related to his current action in turning Mike over to the captain, but one would have to think that this is related to that course of events.

The thing is it sounded as if Ben was referring to a relationship of somekind, but there's no woman in the picture at the moment, so unless he meets someone later on (off-island?) and she deceives him resulting in his fellows being put in jeopardy, or something? But it's probably more likely that Ben was referring to something which takes place on the island - perhaps he trusts someone that he shouldn't - the captain (as you allude) maybe?

So yeah, i do see that Sayid will blame himself for whatever fate awaits his fellows - and so he should, always thinking he's right has got to his head

I also agree that Widmore could well be the 'economist' - his infrequent trips to see Elsa (and to the real world?) may allude to the idea that in 2006 he occupies the island..with Ben and the likes of Sayid trying to get back by coming after his off-island operatives (Mr. Aveline etc). Or the economist could even be someonelike Jacob or Locke - this would make much sense imo, as they both dislike 'technology' as per the economist having an old skool pager instead of modern kit. Or the economist could even be Ben himself..
