Yeah I was quite shocked when Sayid just manhandled Michael before the Captain! I would have thought that Sayid would take a while to think his story over before deciding on any action...his behaviour just seemed out of character for him. And then I suddenly had the idea that the Captain, after Sayid's revelation that Mike was a spy, would simply smile and say 'I know.'

To be honest I don't think I can really blame Sayid. Remember the hate that all the Losties have for Michael I'm pretty sure every single member of the Lsties would have done exactly the same thing.

And in order to get the slip on Ben in any given situation, you have to act wildly out of character, cause otherwise he already knows exactly what you're going to do and has a counter-action to stop it.

i wasn't expecting sayid to do that at all! seemed a bit too impulsive and rash for someone who is usually so cool and collected. just hope it doesn't come back on him though i'm thinking this is probably why he ends up working for ben in the future - he somehow has to complete mikes dirty work

Yes, at first sight it seems crazy, but I think we need to remember that Sayid is fixated on three things:
1) getting off the island;
2) getting everyone else off the island; and
3) getting the hell away from the island.

Now, Ben has never done a thing to help that process along, and furthermore, Ben is with Locke, the guy who blew up the Flame and the sub (allegedly). Now he has a man on the freighter, whose mission seems to be to sabotage everything and possibly even blow it out of the water. So no help there.

The freighties, however, are not particularly friendly, but they are not overtly hostile or aggressive either. They brought Sayid and Desmond off the island, they are not treating them badly. Whatever other agenda they may have, they are still the best hope for getting back to civilisation, but only if Michael can be prevented from destroying the ship first.

In a situation where (it seems) everyone has to take sides, Sayid has clearly aligned himself with the people who seem most likely to get the Losties rescued.

Sayid's a moron - a schoolboy error like this has been coming for a while now. Who is he to be so judgemental of Michael, who, in all fairness ony did what any man would've done in leaving the island with a view of protecting his son. Sayid seemed more concerned about that, than the killings of Libby and Lu, which shows where his priorities rest.

The irony with every Sayid move is palpable and I can't wait to see him join Team Linus.

Yes exactly, I was like - not only was it really unfair on poor Michael (who lets face it has been through enough before he crashed on the island, on the island and now off the island) - did he not HEAR his back story??? Could he not tell Michael was in regret of his actions like with the whole suicide thing as if that wasn't enough, but it was also totally out of character, which makes me think....

As firebreathingfishes suggested I think he has a greater plan. We all know about Sayyid and his intuition and we know he doesn't trust the freighters, so I am sure there is gonna be a twist in all this as there usually is in LOST. I just hope Michael doesn't get into trouble because of Sayyid's actions, just give the poor guy a break.
