hey everyone its my first post on here in about a year, I got bored of lost (gasps) after season 3 as I got more and more addicted to heroes. But now I'm back as a Lostie obsessive

Loved this episode, this series has been getting better and better with every episode. Michaels flashback was interesting and refreshing. There's only been a couple of the episodes where the flashback is in one whole chunk, the only others ones I can think of are ''the other 48 days'' and ''flashes before your eyes''.

As for the stuff happening on the island, I think it was the others who shot Danielle and Carl, and Ben knew full well that they would. Carl is a traitor to them and Danielle an outsider, and we all know what they think outsiders are like. As for this temple itself, I reckon its something on the island that is pre-dharma. Maybe something to do with the giant foot that Sayid, Sun & Jin saw in the S2 finale?

Hey Lost Nick, good to see you back (great Ben avatar btw!)

Good point about Karl being seen as a traitor and Rousseau as an outsider, by the Others - could well support the idea that it was all part of Ben's plan. Personally I think it was the Freighties, but it could go either way at this point.

Interesting - I originally thought the temple was possibly pre-Dharma..however Ben's map marked it as being a Dharma station. I'll find the screencap has been posted in another thread..

EDIT:

This thread shows the map with the Temple listed as a Dharma Station. So it looks like it's another hatch, unless they built the station on top of old ruins or something..

The freighties seem to be playing things so cautiously at the moment, I find it hard to believe that they would blaze away at a few not-particularly-threatening strangers, unless the increasing suspicion at the beach camp has inspired them to bring their plans forward. The Others sent to the Temple do seem the likeliest suspects: Ben has left them all with the impression that the Island is being invaded and told them to lie low, so small wonder if they should be caught sniping at the first people who wonder into their bolthole unannounced (assuming, that is, that Ben did not actually find a way to order the deaths, though I have no doubt he would have little trouble finding the means).

And I am quite disappointed that the Temple appears to be another Dharma station. That Blast Door map is looking less informative than ever, and the Island is becoming a ridiculously developed place. It is hard to take Season 1 (still my favourite season, atmosphere-wise) seriously anymore, as they somehow manage to cover a great deal of ground and make many jungle excursions without encountering very much of this beyond the hatch itself. Obviously, the Island is a lot bigger than it would seem, from the very short time it now seems to take to walk between the main locations. Isn't "New Otherton" supposed to be in the north sector, over a day's walk from the beach (judging from the journey made by the tailies)? Yet it seemed a very brisk stroll for Sayid to make... What do I know about geography anyway?
