Each week the staff team take turns in choosing candidates for Villain of the week - this week it's my turn. Here's my candidates, feel free to vote and/or give your own opinions as to who you feel deserves to be labeled Ji Yeon's 'villain', if you wish.
SUN ![]() Her deceit had already been layed many episodes ago, but she still comes across as sly, duplicitious and deceptive, not to mention sneaky. Jin deserves better and if Bernard's right (and I personally don't subscribe fully the application of his 'Karma' theory), then she's being punished for the choices she's made. BURKE ![]() Ironic that she should be the one to spill the beans on another decepticon, in light of last weeks episode. Nonetheless her approach and even her motives seem conceited and insensitive. Was it her place to tell Jin in such a heart-shattering way? She complains about Ben not giving her freedom and yet she impeaches her own desire to 'save someone' on Sun's freedom to tell Jin on her own terms. Not that she ever would have and not that I am in 'any' way supporting or condoning Sun. It's a case of two wrongs and for her part Jules IMO deserves to be on this list of villainous swines. THE CAPTAIN ![]() Not particularly villainous (although I don't trust him either), but allowing someone to kill themselves without trying to prevent them perhaps brings his character into question, whilst also offering Jules some form of repreive (albeit it Jules seemed intent on gaining person 'success' in finally doing the job Ben hired her for an saving enabling someone to give birth). However, his refusal to waste manpower on saving Regina was far more 'immediate' that Jules' cruel pseudo-protection of Sun. He didn't even try. In saying that it's totally understandable, after all his logic actually makes sense and he's seen it all before - Brandon et al. However he seemed a bit too co.ck-sure of himself, almost as if he was hiding something by being forth-coming and compliant. Again, not exactly villainous but Jack only had a few lines this week and I couldn't put Kate up for her appauling map-drawing skills.

This is going to be the first villian of the week i don't participate in, for the simple fact i just can't decide. Juliet wasn't being a villian... neither was El Capitán (he was alright, i thought) and Sun was just annoying, not exactly villianous. So I vote... Vincent

Tough one between Sun and Jules for me. I think i'm gonna have to go with Jules because Sun's deceit had already been layed in previous episodes, so she wasn't that villainous in 'this' episode per se, although she was still sneaky.
Jules confirmed her hypocrisy, her desperate need to 'save a pregnant woman' and her sheer inconsideration and lack of respect for others. She's becoming a very lousy person and is reminding me of Jack more and more with her sarky one-liners and self-interested scientific agenda. She clearly doesn't care about Sun-Hwa IMO - she simply wants to do what she was brought to the island for - proving that she's a failure and a conceited one at that. Really want to like her because she's brilliantly acted by EM, but really can't stand her because she's not a nice person at all.

I don't think that's the case at all. I think if Juliet had given up on trying to get Sun to stay, people would have bashed her for that too, saying that she's bad at her job. She was desperate to get Sun to stay, and I doubt there was another way to make her stay. If she had told Jin the situation, he probably wouldn't have believed her either and said 'I'll do whatever Sun wants to', either that or he wouldn't have understood and Sun wouldn't have translated for him. It was a on-the-spot, last ditch attempt to get her to stay, and obviously it worked. I wouldn't put a villianous status on her because, at the end of the day, whether it was to make herself feel better about her job or not, she most probably saved Sun and the baby's lives.

Sun.
Juliet simply didn't want another of her 'patients' dying and she had to get Sun off the island anyway she could and by telling Jin what Sun had done doesnt make her the villain. Juliet's up as a villain for telling Jin something Sun did so in conclusion Sun is the villain. I would of gone for Captain Gault but he hasnt done anything. I can't decide!
Probably would have to go for Sun because Jules, while cruel, was doing it to save Sun's life and the Captain, despite his indifference to Regina's death, doesn't strike me as a villan yet. He's not one who I find easy to trust though.

Well, certainly Sun - I was glad to see Lost's taking a step away from its herto miongynistic portrayal of her to con what she did (and to put that con in the voice of the man who, by his own admission, helped to lead her). I was kind of hoping it'd put an end to all the 'witch' epithets, but there you go. I'll say the captain on the grounds of trust, though I except it's kind of early to be judging him.
