Charley's death was very moving. But i voted Jin because we didn't expect that. We knew Charlies fate for a long time.
We knew the inevitable wud happen! |

I found it difficult to invest in Jin's "death" [with Sun and Hugo at the Cemetary] because Jin is not actually dead in the episode. I cannot understand why everyone thinks he is. However, it took away from what could have been a great scene, which was very well done all the same and still emotional.
So I will go with Charlie's death.

Charlie - DEFINATELY.
1) Because he was my favourite character, 2) Because we actually saw it happen - we watched him die - which was heartbreaking. With Jin all we saw was a grave, not the actual death.

I say Jin... almost every episode in Season 3 ended had the "You're gunna die Charlie" in the previouslys.... and Jin's just happened.... I was silent for about an hour after that.
I almost cried too... it was just too much. The only time Charlie made me cry was when he kissed Claire for the last time... but that was more for Claire's eventual sadness.

Definately Charlie's.
Yes Jin's was sudden and there's no doubt that it was sad because, well, it's Jin, but I feel more upset about the fact that I didn't feel that upset about it! I think it might be because we actually saw Charlie's death as well as everything leading up to it, including the brief periods of hope that he might cheat fate and survive. But Jin's came out of nowhere, and I found it more shocking than saddening. Maybe after another viewing I'll find it sadder, since I found that with Boone's death.

Charlie 100%. Although i love both characters just as much i think Jins Death was dissapointing. The graveyard scene hardly affected me and just felt like one gigantic spoiler

Charlie. His death just broke my heart and not just because i've adored him since he dodged the falling plane wing in the Pilot. He was funny, musical and sweet.
Jin's apparent death was very sad also (i've never cried so bad since Charlie's death) but he's not DEFINETLY dead.

I was spoiled for Jin's death beforehand, but nonetheless I'm very surprised how slight an impact it had on me, especially as I think Jin is a more unambiguously likeable character even than Charlie. Perhaps it's because the ending was ultimately quite inconclusive - I do think he's dead (because I don't think Hurley would've referred to going to a tombstone as 'visiting Jin' if he was still alive somewhere else), but the big mystery is how, and that was more pressing than any sense of grief. Also Charlie's was so foreshadowed and I think that helped it seem more poignant when it finally came around - also helped that it took place onscreen. Or possibly I'm just getting used to the idea of losing characters in Lost.

Jin's was sad, especially when he said "You'll never lose me." then Sun loses him. But I have to go with Charlie because we saw it happen, and Jin could still be alive on the island - we don't know if the grave is a set-up or not.

I agree with all those above who said Charlie - hands down!!!!!!! The lead up to that scene, ie. with Desmond's flashes, just gave the whole thing such a powerful punch. Charlie was incredibly brave - I was crying from the time he jumped over the boat to go down to the sub, hmm think I reached a crucendo when he worked out the Beach Boys clue to the numbers to punch in. THEN the was the whole scene was slowed down with Desmond running to the control room was the final absolute genius touch.
Whereas Jin's (somewhat dubious) grave was just confusing... in fact I even felt angry towards him for deceiving Sun like that (new wife/married only 2 days WTF !?!?!?!?!? unless that FF was a totally different time, but the way the scene went it it seemed to me that Jin -the murderer of old- and his wicked ways was back in business!. No it's true to say I don't trust Jin, whereas Charlie was a fab bloke! *Incidentally my 2year old son is call Charlie too*) |

Flashing Desmond

It bemuses me how many people didn't and don't realise the flashforward and flashback running simultaneously. As I've said somewhere else this may be due to my Saw obsession but I thought it early on and it was obvious by the end, to me personally at any rate. Jin was flashback, Sun was flashforward.
I also believe that Sun is dead. For me if it turned out he wasn't it would seem like such a cop out. Plus Hurley and Sun's reactions both said that he was dead. For it to turn out otherwise would be extremely foolish from the writers.
