Default The Other Woman - Whisper Transcript

Just before Juliet runs into Harper in the jungle:

"Sarah is having another..."
"Is that the other woman?"

When Juliet runs into Harper in the jungle:

"Look out"
"Sarah is having another..."
"Did you hear that?
"If she won't save us then who is?"
"Sarah, somebody's coming."
Male: There is somebody coming
Female: Hold on one second
Male: There is somebody coming

***Juliet sees Jack***

After Jack runs into Juliet and Harper:

Male "Sarah it's someone we know, Sarah it's someone we know"
Female "I'm not answering"
Male- answer them
"We have our answer"
"Can we trust her"

Finally, a very faint whisper can be heard right before Juliet uses the pulley door contraption at the Tempest Station.

"Its Juliet"

as always, i'm really sceptical over the whispers... But wasn't Christian Shepard heard saying 'Sarah' a lot? I know a lot of people linked that to Ana-Lucia.
If these are accurate, then it seems like they're always being watched... which is hella creepy

Why do "they" never make any sense when they talk? Perhaps being dead has it's flaws?

Either the dead find it difficult to 'communicate', or only some of their speaking is coming 'through' OR we simply do not understand exactly what it is they are speaking about and in turn cannot make sense of it. In other words they ARE making sense but only saying snippets of information to one another to save time?

One would assume we are hearing whispers specifically because it is more intriguing for the show. But what if they are trying NOT to be heard - which begs the question: can they not find a way to communicate in private?
  • Why are they speaking?
  • What are they trying to accomplish, if anything?

Good point fbf - I keep forgetting that he called LuLu 'Sarah' - I think you've nailed it there, it must be LuLu who he's talking to, because she's dead and she also lost her baby....and by the sounds of it she's "having another" baby - which is just spooky..I mean, conception in death?..who's the father?

Yes, excellent point - I also belileve that the whispers (murmers of the dead) either cannot communite properly to those who are living (perhaps only those with a great connection to a person can actually take it a step further and'manifest' to them - i.e. Charlie with Hugo, Walt with Locke *if Walt is dead, that is*, Christian to jack etc etc) OR that they don't want to be heard - this would also tap into the real world mythology aspect where by it's believed that spirits only allows you to see them if they want you to see them and even then it comes at a risk, hence why sightings are so few and far between.

Other alternitives could relate to the 'dimension' that the whispers (dead people's consciousness) are residing in - it's likely that although they are right there amongst us, their plaine, their dimension is that much denser or skewed..too skewed for us to tune into. This actually reminds me of Jack's tattoo - "I walk amongst you, but I am not one of you" - probably doesn't relate to this but it just reminds me of the idea of the dead still being with us, just not 'visible' as it were.

Or, of course perhaps the whispers do not even know that they are being heard, as they never seem to 'directly' communicate with a person do they? As you said, they're always speaking amongst themselves, which is probably a big clue as to their own understanding of where they are and of what has become of them..

Do they even know they're 'dead'?? Probably, but there is something not quite 'right' in the way they perceive things..or perhaps it is US whose perception is wrong..or even the living characters themselves, as one would expect the dead to be the enlightened ones having passed over into the afterlife and all..

Interesting topic.

The thought's crossed my mind that they do not know they are being heard but if they are watching the Losties/others then they must surely know they get a bit freaked out looking wildly round the jungle whenever they start talking.
I think it is us/living characters who have the perception wrong. i dont know why but yes

See, that's interesting because it would effectively make the whispers like us - the viewers - watching the losties and talking about their actions and stuff

Good point - if they don't know they're being heard, then they must realise that they can be heard sometimes, like (as you said) when one of the losties looks around suddenly as if they've heard something Perhaps this tells us something about how "connected" they are once they die? It seems to me like their perception of the world is very 3rd party, very disjointed, if you will..

Yeah.
Unless it's the opposite and they do know they can be heard but they know that they don't make sense to the person who is hearing them so they are free to talk to one another.
It's a hard subject
