The 2nd picture - the logo - looks like the Ying/Yang symbol as well as a flame or a wave.

Yeah, I can defintely see the 'wave' - it's just weird that it is a gas station yet the symbol doesn't appear to match the purpose. Then again, I think someone suggested that the Looking Glass Hatch didn't exactly match it's purpose - what with it being the symbol of a Rabbit. Although one could argue that the rabbit was representative of the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, which went down a rabbit-hole and came out the other-side into a back to front world - which is kinda what the 'LG' hatch is, because it provided communication between the 'real world' and the 'back to front island world'.
I'm also wondering why they have a 'gas' station in the first place? I mean, if must have been constructed by (or for) Dharma, right? Which means that although ben probably used it against them in the 1980's purge, Dharma must have been using it for purposes of their own.. Smoke monster, perhaps? Either to create it, or perhaps more likely, in an attempt to destroy it? Fighting fire with fire..or smoke with smoke, if you will.. ![]()

I think the logo's are due to the places names rather than their purposes. The Looking Glass had the rabbit due to, as you said, the rabbit in Alice In Wonderland: through the looking glass. The wave is for the term The Tempest which is a violent storm at sea
![]() It is weird that Dharma had this station, however I don't think that they originally built it for brewing hazardous chemicals that could kill everybody, I think Ben and the Originals mainly used it for this and came up with the idea. I like the idea of Dharma using it to create/combat Smokey, however it was probably just used for mundane scientific purposes; creating normal chemicals and conducting chemical experiments that needed a contained place.
