So we see that Faraday and Charlotte have a map..a map quite literally filled with "unknowns" (much like Faraday's memory, ironically).
![]() But i'm wondering what this tells us about the Frieghties, Widmore and their knowledge of the island etc.. From the map it would appear that they don't know too much -afterall there are some many 'unknowns' and not much else (apart from the Tempest station and some mountain ranges). I find this odd, because many of us (myself included) have theorised that Widmore (the man behind the frieghties) had deep connections with Dharma - but then why doesn't he (Widmore) know more about the island..afterall, it wouldn't have changed much since the purge.. It therefore seems that Widmore was excluded from much of Dharma's knowledge of the island..but then the 'Henry Gale' balloon (and perhaps even Desmond's arrival on the island?) kinda makes sense, because it shows that Widmore tried sneeky ways of finding out about the island by sending men in balloons and other people to the island (Just in case you don't know the Henry Gale balloon was a Widmore balloon - had his logo on it). Anyways, I'm thinking that this current map was copied from the Black Rock Journal, which we saw him purchase in Desmond's 1996 time-travelling adventures. SO...Widmore has been 'actively' looking for the island for at least 8 years..yet he had investments in the island (Dharma) before then and even tried to get a man on that island (Henry Gale?) post-purge...Hmm..he sure wants to get to that island don't he.. ![]()

![]() I think it's interesting to note how little Widmore actually knows about the island though - I mean he invested in Dharma (as far as I know) and yet they didn't divulge island info to him. I guess it means that he's not working with Dharma to get back to the island, as they would be able to fill in the "unknowns" and tell him exactly where everything is. So I guess we're looking at the premise that dharma really is dead (although perhaps they'll still appear as a seperate entity later on in the saga?). (They call him Faraday because that's his surname - Daniel Faraday )
