I can't believe this woman. Charlie has been dead, what?, 3 days and all she cares about is doing the laundry, making Sawyer coffee(!) and poking her nose in on Locke's Miles detainment.
I can't believe how heartless she's being..show some tears at least dammit ![]() She also had the nerve to basically disregard Charlie's dying message by telling Locke: "Blah blah blah..all he said was who's boat it's not" ![]() To think he died for her..what a waste of a heroic death ![]() Is this just bad pacing/writing or is it indicative of selfish Claire's self-centered nature? ..or perhaps you have your own opinions on this matter? ![]()

I was a bit bummed out at how 'not bothered' she appeared to be, but it could be just the case that A. The writers didn't want her moping around and actually want to do something productive with her or B. she's just putting on a brave face.
Although I've always been non-plussed over Claire. I don't particularly like her, but I don't particularly not like her either. She's like Weetabix ![]()

Hurley was more upset than Claire
Bless himI dont think we've seen enough of Claire since Charlie died to decide whether she's not bothered about his death. She did seem pretty upset when Hurley first told her but since then I guess people deal with death in different ways though. |

True MEP true, people do deal with things in different ways, but we know she's normally very expressive with her emotions - like when her mom was in hospital or during one of her numerous screams/whinges
![]() But perhaps you're both right, perhaps it's because we haven't seen enough of her - who knows what goes on behind the closed doors of Othersville ![]() Maybe it's just me, but i'd actually like to see some tears from her - I mean, they drilled us with the Charlie/Claire thing for 3 seasons..I'd like to see some emotion from the girl over his death, lol I mean, there was more sadness over the deaths of Nikki and her boyfriend..and they weren't even dead at the time. Come on writers, sort it out! (but yeah, it's probably down to pacing issues)

Yeah, Claire, like Sun and Jin, is a waste of space and good air time at the moment.
Claire has shown no emotion - in fact shes happier now? ![]() But then again Desmond has not given her Charlie's greatest hits yet so maybe he will at some point and we will see a delayed cry from her. But if I'm really honest Claire rarely registers with me. Her lines could have been given to Joanne if she never drowned in season 1 for all the good Claire is and has done. A useless character. ALthough I do think she is alive in teh future and will kill Kate for stealing Aaron!

I blame the shorter season. Theres less time to cover something like that.
If there is to be a Claireisode though... all of these emotions are bound to come rushing back... as I suspect the writers have given her sort of a detached emotion at the moment. Like it didn't even happen. It still remains to be seen though... I don't think she is heartless... I think she's just trying to be strong. But I'm not going to say something bad about Claire... thats just how I am. ![]()

This seems to be a weak spot for the writers. They get away with it because of our perception of time (3 episodes is like 3 weeks), but it kind of strains on the realism when you think of the show in its actual timeline. The same happened with Shannon over Boone's death. It was more than half a season since his death, but really only a week, and she was over it and getting intimate with Sayid.
![]() The advantage, I guess, is that it would probably feel like the characters' emotions have stagnated if they showed them grieving for a realistic amount of time... Quote:

Either that or it will have some how been digested by Desmond's shirt, seeing as it's probably a living organism in its own right the amount of time he's been wearing it ![]()

Well what do you expect Roco - her to be in floods of tears all the time??? Its called getting on with things mate. Shes had her cry and now she has to get on, be strong for Aarron. Everyone else on the island has dealt with grief but it is a sad fact of island life that people cant dwell on these things for too long. If she turely didnt care, she wouldnt have gone with Locke in the first place. I dont think that Claire is self centred at all - just very confused off the island, but I dont think that you can say that about her on the island. I think that she, like everyone else who travelled with Locke is confused to what is going on and wants answers - surely that is her right yes? Also, have you not considered that she is possably wondering what Charlie died for, and if he may have been misintruprided (sp) - perfectly natural IMO. I think it is perfectly reasonable to double check that Charlies death isnt in vain. Sorry for being harsh but I happen to like Claire as a character and whilst she only just about makes my top 10, she doesnt get the support that other charcters get so somone stand up for her. |

![]() IMO, Claire is very underated character. I think Emile De Ravin is a great actress and plays her brilliantly. Claire has a sweet innocence about her that I find lovely. I dont think we have seen enough of her to say that shes been heartless over this. |
