If she turely didnt care, she wouldnt have gone with Locke in the first place. I dont think that Claire is self centred at all - just very confused off the island, but I dont think that you can say that about her on the island.

I think that she, like everyone else who travelled with Locke is confused to what is going on and wants answers - surely that is her right yes? Also, have you not considered that she is possably wondering what Charlie died for, and if he may have been misintruprided (sp) - perfectly natural IMO. I think it is perfectly reasonable to double check that Charlies death isnt in vain.

Sorry for being harsh but I happen to like Claire as a character and whilst she only just about makes my top 10, she doesnt get the support that other charcters get so somone stand up for her.
Well, yes i do expect her to be in floods of tears...or at least to show actual emotion from Charlie's death. Anything less is unrealistic, or a sacrifice the plot demanded - like most of us here I do understand the need to drive the story forward, but I can't help but be slightly peeved by the lack or integrity and realism the impact of Charlie's death demanded. Particularly when we consider the likes of Shannon/Nikki and Paulo were given a more heatfelt send-off by their friends. Charlie's death now reminds me of Eko's - a great character who's death seems to have been already forgotten by his fellows.

Yes, you're right in that she has to be strong for Aaron, but we haven't seen 'any' indication of her sadness of Charlie's death since the great Lostie split of 'The Beginning of The End'. Well done to her for shedding a few tears upon being told of his death, but the man kinda died for you Claire..at least hold down your chirpyness and cut the bounce outta your step..

I don't think it matters to her what charlie died for - she knows he's died and so surely 'how' he died doesn't impact on her ability to cry more or less..or to show more or less sadness. Yes, she wants to find out the exact nature of charlie's death, but prior to asking Locke's permission to speek to Miles she was chirpily hanging out the laundry and merrily making cups of coffee for Sawyer - her eyes aren't even red or puffy..no tears, no cares..

But like most here, I do agree that it's more to do with pacing and moving things along than TPTB trying to imply that Claire is heartless. However, regardless of the intent, I still believe that this is another glaring example of the said characters ability to be self interested - or at least the writers continue to write her as a selfish character..sometimes even unitentionally so, perhaps.

I don't think Claire has had enough screen time for anyone to determine how upset she is. She couldn't exactly sit there crying her eyes out while talking to Sawyer and Kate, and i think that's the only time she has seemed a little 'chirpy'. the other times she's just been pretty much unhappy, albeit more on a suspicious level than a sad one. But she is probably one of these people (like myself) who cry constantly for a day or 2, then kind of dry up doesn't mean she doesn't care anymore.

You're right fbf, they can't use all of her little screentime on scenes of her crying, but i do think they could have used a few scenes differently - like why did she have to be so happy whilst hanging out the laundry? Why did she have to be so merry when offering to make ford coffee? Why couldn't they make her have a slightly subdued persona just for those few scenes? It just seems like lazy writing - or perhaps Emilie can't act (it's been cited before)?

Whilst i'm full of praise for the powers that be in what they have given us in these first 6 episodes, I have to pull them up on this. I let them off on the increasing ability for characters to travel from one island location to another in minutes, when it used to take them days, but this Claire thing has bugged me. They haven't even made her eyes red or puffy - instead she looks better than ever (LOL), i mean that, she's actually looking quite decent these days - which is a sad indictment of what Charlie meant to her. I mean Charlie was integral to her every interesting island-moment - pay it forward Clairingtons!

Didn't he put them in his front pocket before diving into the water?

If they are still intact, Des is on the boat and maybe doesn't even remember Charlie and Claire anyway.
