RIP Mittelos

..Ben's off-island people being captured and tortured by Widmore, Alpert's busy at the Temple, half his island peeps dead..is this the end of the Others off-shore unbrella company, Mittelos?



Personal feelings aside, I just love the idea of mythology and politics colliding...as predicted after the Economist, the story really is becoming one of economics, markets and politics..merging with the already fantastic mystical and spirtual setting of the island..the new Holy Grail?...

I wonder whether future Ben (seen in The Economist) has lost control of the island and is now taking out Widmore's people in a sort of switch-reversal of power and politics?

Back to this episode, I wonder who made the tape - Alpert? ..It also appeared that Widmore saw that he was being watched.

We also know that this tape cannot be more than, what, 30 days old - as te creators gave us the reference of Ben showing Jack the Redsox game about 30 days ago. Seeing as Ben "taped over the game", I would conclude that this act of Widmore thuggary was no more than a month old (also signalling that Ben or one of his people have been to and from the island in this time - yes, this is post-sky turning purple!!), which is intriguing on it's own merit. We also know that this footage was not simply 'uploaded', since it's on an old VHS tape and not a DVD..

Oh, and I just LOVE the way Ben said: "he's one of my people who had the misfortune of getting caught", lol Ben you do have a way with words

So perhaps it's not RIP mittelos, but the war is ON! (i'm with Team Ben)

Hmmm maybe my two sides theory needs adjusting slightly?

Did I ever tell you Roco that somtimes I think that both you and I hold half of the solution each?

Theories aside, it could be that Mittelos could still be functioning as the legitamate face of the others dealings. In otherwords, it is able to function semi independent - when for whatever reason the island is cut off, it can function as a normal bioscience lab, but when the island gets in touch, it becomes a front for covert opperations in the 'war'.

Im confused too, but it does seem that in the future, Ben is losing the war, as it seems Sayid is his only loyal companion, and considering he's off island, and hiding in a vets, it doesnt look good for team ben. Which is a shame because i dont want widmore on the island

Hmm, im not sure he's losing the war per se - I think that Sayid is only 'one' of his aids, I think he has other soldiers and allies (could be wrong), perhaps Mittelos still exist in the future but we just haven't seem them yet. Afterall it seems unlikely that Ben and Sayid would take on an army on their own -although I wouldn't put it past them!

Perhaps we'll have a situation where BOTH Ben/Mittelos AND Widmore lose the island and a THIRD group comes to occupy the island (and are fighting to get it back before the other)? - the circle of life...'akuma matata'..and all that..
